Chapter 4 - Apology mail?... or not..(revised)

After calming himself down a little, he finally clicked on the 'Bloodline' tab with his mind.

And what he saw blew his mind away.

DING!

BLOODLINES: Yin Phoenix (Unique), Void Belgusari (God Tier) (partial awakening).

Shock! That was the only thing Jade's mind was experiencing. He couldn't believe what he was seeing, his little mouth falling open almost to his chest, his mind reeling with the implications. Magic? Bloodlines? He had always thought he was just a normal unfortunate soul, who had lived a quite unfortunate life, then died only to be reincarnated again as a baby into another... but no, reality was far from that! The truth slammed into him like a freight train: he had been reincarnated into a world where magic was real, and he was a part of it.

The realization sent his thoughts into chaos, questions swirling wildly—What kind of world was this, really? And what did it mean for him? This revelation changed everything! He suddenly didn't know what to feel. Should he be happy? But having lived a life full of struggles, Jade couldn't bring himself to accept that he had been lucky enough to reincarnate into a magical world, and as if that wasn't enough, he had two powerful bloodlines to boot!

Was his luck finally turning for the better? Had his curses finally reached whoever was in charge so he was finally given his luck back? He didn't know when, but he started laughing. It started softly at first but gradually became brighter and louder.

"Yes!", "Finally!… finally!!"

"Hahahahahahahhh!"

He laughed loudly and happily, startling Niamh, who was sitting at the other end of the room, sorting her gains from scavenging the day before.

Niamh's heart skipped a beat as she stared at the baby, who was suddenly laughing loudly and babbling away, his bright eyes sparkling with an otherworldly energy. One moment he'd been quiet, and the next, he was erupting into joyful sounds, as if he'd discovered some secret delight. His tiny hands waved in the air, and his chubby legs kicked with abandon, leaving Niamh feeling both startled and enchanted by the sudden transformation. She couldn't help but laugh along with him, her initial shock giving way to wonder as she gazed at the baby's infectious grin.

After calming down from his little fit, Jade took a deep breath and decided to navigate the rest of his system.

Subject: Oops, My Bad: A Divine Apology (Sort Of)

Dear Dorian,

Hey, remember that whole "life was a struggle and everything went wrong" thing? Yeah, about that… I'm sorry (not really). I mean, who doesn't love a good underdog story, right? But seriously, I might have, uh, forgotten to roll out the red carpet for you in your previous life.

As a goddess, I'm basically all-powerful, but sometimes I get distracted by more interesting things (like watching mortals try to figure out how to use a toilet). Anyway, I figured it's time to make it up to you. I'm gifting you a superior bloodline – think of it as a "Get Out of Bad Luck Free" card! And, because I'm feeling generous, I'll throw in a Power Seed, just to make sure you've got the skills to pay the bills (or in this case, conquer the world).

Don't get too excited, though. With great power comes great responsibility… or to mess things up royally. Just kidding (kind of). Seriously, though, I hope this gift makes up for the whole "previous life was a dumpster fire" thing.

Cheers,

[Goddess ASTARTEA]

....

....

Jade's eyes widened in incredulity as he read the mail, his mind struggling to reconcile the goddess's words with her tone. The apology, if one could even call it that, was laced with sarcasm and mockery, leaving him feeling both stunned and infuriated. How could a being of such supposed power and wisdom reduce the trials of his past life to a mere jest? The promise of a superior bloodline and a Power Seed seemed like a hollow consolation, tainted by the goddess's flippant attitude.

He felt like punching something so bad that he ended up punching the air in aggression.

Don't let me catch you, goddess, or whatever you are!. I'll strangle you to death with my bare hands! "Ugh."

Dorian tried to distract himself from the annoying mail from the so-called goddess by diverting his attention to his other tabs. And to say it worked was an understatement. Even though it was a mockery instead of an apology, the rewards pleased him greatly. He even thought his past life suffering was almost worth it—key word 'almost'.

He looked to his talents and was very pleased. He didn't know how talents were ranked in this world, but he had a feeling his talents would be placed at the top of them all. Although one of them was unawakened, the second one still put him in a good mood and answered the question that had been bothering him since he reincarnated. With a unique-ranked Yin Phoenix bloodline and an SS-ranked Ice & Snow talent, even if he was thrown in a deep freezer, the cold still wouldn't bother him in the slightest!

And to think he had a bloodline ranked God Tier almost had him dancing on his feet! He kept grinning from ear to ear like a creep. Niamh, who was occasionally paying attention to him, was smiling alongside him, thinking he was one happy baby.

He somehow understood his talents and what they could do; his bloodline abilities came naturally to him, like he'd always had them. Looking at his skills, he somehow understood that he'd be able to wield them instinctively.

He seemed a little confused about his inventory, but after a little fiddling here and there, he understood how it worked. How convenient, he thought.

Looking further down at his quest list, Jade was surprised, happy, and confused at the same time.

Surprised that he had unknowingly completed some quests and gained rewards without even realizing.

Happy that it meant he didn't have to wait until he grew older before beginning to get stronger—he could do it while lying down too!

Confused because he didn't understand some of them, like the quest asking him to take a life—was it asking him to kill? He was just a baby! What kind of entity was this system trying to create? A killer baby? Chucky?

Was that so-called goddess crazy? What was she thinking? But then it didn't seem to have a time limit, so maybe when he grew up? Still, it was messed up! What kind of goddess encourages killing?

No, wait!

She said he was rewarded with a bloodline and a Power Seed. But Jade remembered his initial system was called the Compensation System, and it seemed to have crashed and been devoured. The Supreme Monarch System had devoured something called a Power Seed when the system activated.

Does that mean the Supreme Monarch System wasn't from the goddess? Then what was it? Where did it come from? Was it trying to do something to him? Fear gripped Jade's heart for a moment before he decided to discard it for now. Regardless of what it was, he didn't have the ability to do anything about it right now, so he would worry about it in the future.

The excessive thinking he had been doing was beginning to overwhelm his infant brain, so he decided to face the problems when they arrived. He focused on more important matters: his rewards for now. He accepted the rewards one by one before checking his status again.

After thoroughly understanding his status screen, Jade tried allocating a single stat point to Strength to see what would happen.

Immediately, he felt a subtle yet palpable surge of energy coursing through his veins. It was as if his muscles had been infused with a gentle warmth, like the first hints of dawn breaking over the horizon. He opened and tightened his grip with a newfound sense of solidity. The sensation was almost imperceptible, yet undeniable—a quiet confidence that whispered to him: "You are a little bit stronger now."

For a moment, the weight of his past struggles seemed to lift, replaced by the promise of potential.

After getting a taste of what it felt like to be stronger, Jade knew he would become addicted to that feeling, and he didn't hate it in the slightest. In fact, he craved it more! So he allocated one more stat point to his Strength, letting himself feel that slow but addictive feeling of growing stronger again.

He added 2 points to his Stamina and immediately felt his fatigue dissipate like smoke.

What a great feeling!

Even the drugs he peddled in his previous life couldn't give one this kind of satisfaction!

Jade decided to leave the rest of his stat points for later use. Satisfied, he looked at his updated status window.
