Chapter 6 - The Floating Island

'You have always been like that… You really did not kept me waiting for so long this time' said the girl as she was smiling but a tear fell from her eye.

The kid was staring at her and said 'Why are you cryi—' but as he looked again, he found nothing on her face. No tears in her eyes.

'Did I imagine it?' The kid thought to himself as his eyes were fixed on her face in confusion.

'Oh my… did you fall for me?' she taunted but was smiling brightly.

'No… just wondering how bad of a luck I have for me to get stuck here with this lost kid'

'Hey! I am older than you.'

'Sure thing, the elder one.' taunted her. He was a bit confused how she knew his age but he just wanted to get out of whatever this was. She puffed her cheek on the comment.

The kid was of course trying to annoy her while showing no interest so that she would leave him alone but she just smiled back.

'I guess she wouldn't leave me alone' as he sighs and she comments with 'Thats so like you' as she laughs instead of getting angry.

'Wait, can you read my mind? What is this place?' the kid thought to himself, but used "you" as bait to see how she would respond as he moved his mouth a little which would look like he was talking from some distance.

'Haha I have no idea what you are talking about… but Welcome back to My Fun land.' as she nervously laughs.

'So she can… Wait. Fun Land?' questioned the kid with a confused look.

'This is where I live. A place that does not exist' responded as she came closer.

'A place that does not exist? So I did died… this is what hell is like?'

'How rude of you to call this hell but rest assured, you are not dead. You will wake up soon. I guess this was too early for you' as she smiles.

This was all like a dream for him, a weird one for sure, maybe even a nightmare as his guts were telling him something was off.

'I think you got the wrong guy, can I leave please… I have important things to do?' says the kid

'Important? Like what?'

'Sleep' as he starts taking a step backwards not wanting to get into whatever this mess was.

'You know I am more important than… hey are you listening to me'

He tried to step backward, but he noticed the barrier made of words faded into existence right behind him as if they imprisoned him there. They appeared when he extended his hand outwards and faded out of existence when not near them. He used his hand to inspect it and was dealt with an electrical shock that went throughout his body making him instinctively push himself backwards near the girl.

'You can not pass though those, be it getting inside or outside without permission of mine or her. They exist to protect me'

'Thanks… You could had told me just a little earlier before it shocked me…'

'Think of it as a punishment for ignoring me. You are trapped here with me for now'

'I see. If I am stuck then at least tell me, what did you meant by welcome back? And why am I here' but as he was questioning her, the world started to shake suddenly.

She spoke in prideful manner 'Tsk tsk tsk, you must not be ready for it. Haha let me enlighten you. You just forced your way i—' but as she was speaking. The sky turned red and everything else turned black and white. The only thing who could move was the kid.

The world itself froze on its tracks as if some different power was interfering with the world itself.

As he was processing what was going on. He waved in front of it and then tried to poke but as his hand went closer near her face. Something small zapped without even touching and her left half face crumbled revealing another face. One side which was smiling and the side which crumbled like a stone mask revealing someone older with glowing vivid red eyes, with a tear and a smile, trying to say something.

It looked as if something was disturbing the space itself. The voice started to become a bit distorted. 'He–p He–' she said with a smile. The kid knew that smile very well. A voice of regret while having a miserable, bittersweet smile which she couldn't even uphold properly.

The uncrumbled side stood smiling not moving while the other crumbled side shed a tear almost as if she was about to cry while smiling.

The body of the kid started vibrating, his vision going blurry and wobbly, as the sky turned red and the world became disoriented as a dark void appeared below him and he started to sink into it.

'Wait, I am not done yet' as he tries to resist.

As he had fallen into the void and found himself staring at an entirely different place.

A dimly lit dark room, with some light shining in the middle as the darkness surrounded the rest, glowing golden strings were hanging all around the room and the floor had a red liquid covering the whole floor as it produced ripples from where the kid stood.

He saw that girl, no… it was the same girl as before with identical features but looked older in age, wearing a dark red dress, looking almost black. She was restrained by some golden string that held her from wrist, levitating her just above the ground into air with her head tilted covering her face with her long white hair not knowing if she was living or dead. It seemed almost as if it was an illusion before him.

The kid felt an insane surge of energy that was held in the chains. The chains absorb the energy off her. How long has she been there? No one knew but the energy was strong enough to be sensed by someone like him who had no sense of magic as his body rejects anything related to magic.

She had a red colored scarf placed on her awkwardly.

In front of her was an empty plate, but crumbled almost like it was untouched for multiple centuries for it to decay by itself as it waited for something that never existed. On her left was piled up white dust.

'Please save her' echoed one last time, clear but distant before he fell into a dark void, succumbing to it as he was no longer able to resist it.`

He opened his eyes and found himself laying on the floor.

'Why am I being thrown around everytime…' as he stood up and noticed many dried up thorn veins all around him on the ground which would crumble on just a touch. He was stuck in the dark plains once again but this time the thorns were broken and no longer trapping him.

Not all first expressions are eventful nor are they perfect for everyone. If you look back at events, you will notice many mistakes you made on the way.

Even now he remembered her gloomy face, almost yelling out to help her and the woman who was chained not knowing if she was alive or not. He wondered 'Welcome back huh? Have I met her before?'

'Well no need to overthink it, I need to get out of here first before—' but suddenly as he was talking, the space filled up with cold mist and became extremely cold making him shiver.

'Dam it, I knew it. At least give me something to warm myself' as he was talking while shivering in the cold, he noticed a flickering fire, a campfire in some distance whose warmth was alluring him.

'The timing is too perfect, I don't trust it.'

The cold air blew on him from all directions. 'Maybe just a little wouldn't hurt' as he sat down near it, rubbing his hands to warm himself.

The sound of chains rattling surrounded the air but he paid it no attention and even joked 'Maybe it's coming from hell this time.'

'Oh man it will be really nice if i had hot~ chocolate with me'

'Yea… I am pushing my luck.' as he sighs in defeat.
