Greg: This is not good!
Oli: So you can see it right? Of course you do.
Greg (Todor is not in the room, which means that he will play "No Action", and the other two used "Action", so that means that if I use "Action", then the three of us loses 1 point and Todor gains 3... And if I use "No Action", I will still lose a point, and Oli and Brielle will gain... I can't let Todor gain a lot of points, because he could get back to the game any moment literally, and they knew it, they are forcing me to use "No Action" and with that to give them a free point!)
Oli: Greg, would you choose already?
Greg: I'd rather wait until the 5 minutes elapsing.
Oli: Well, that makes sense, After all, Todor could get back at any moment, and if we all decide what we play then we can't do anything if he comes back.
Greg: Exactly.
While they are waiting for the few remaining minutes to elapse, Todor is in the main hall of the hotel, sitting alone at a round table, no one wants to go close to him really, no one understands what's happening, but Todor, as if it would be the most normal thing in the entire world, on one of the television that is on the wall, he watches his own match, the one that is currently live and not participating in it.
Adam: W-What the hell? Why is he here? Is this some kind of joke? Is this part of his plan? Is this his strategy?
Todor: Hm, everyone seems so shocked, I wonder why.
A few minutes later...
Referee: Alright! The first round ended let's see, this is how everyone started the game today:
Start:
Brielle: (10)
Greg: (10)
Oli: (10)
Todor: (10)
And the first turn results:
Round-1:
Brielle: No Action -1 (9)
Greg: Action +1 (11)
Oli: No Action -1 (9)
Todor: Action +1 (11)
Everyone except the referee and Todor were surprised. The players, the participants in the hotel, were shocked. What happened?
Adam: What are the...? And Todor doesn't seem surprised. Does he know what just happened?
...
Referee: The second round starts now! you all have 5 minutes to choose your actions!
Brielle: What... Did just happen? Greg it was YOU!?
Greg: Ah?! What the hell? No, it was not me! I... I have no idea what happened!
Oli: Okay, don't panic. Let's go through what happened! So what do we know? I and Brielle for sure used "Action" but both turned out as "No Action" also Greg and Todor-
Greg: Seems like that in reality, for the calculations, everyone ended up with the opposite cards we have used!
Brielle: Yeah! You're right! That must be it!
Oli: Don't jump to conclusions!
Greg: Referee! Is there any chance tha-
Referee: No! There were no miscalculations! It is 100%!
Oli: So if it was not your doings then it has to be Todor.
Greg: How would it be me?
Referee: 3 minutes left!
Oli: Well, how would Todor do anything either? Especially that he is not even here?
Greg: Look, if you think about it, does it matter how and who does it?
Oli: Well, maybe not, what you want to say is that the only thing that matters is how it is working? But maybe we need to know the "Why?" first if we want to deduce that.
Greg: Maybe you are right, but indeed I think that the most important thing is to understand what happened right now!
Referee: 90 seconds!
Brielle: Anyways just play something guys!
Oli: Wait! You saw before that it didn't matter that we used "Action", we should work together!
Greg: What about... We all use "Action?"
Oli: All "Action"?
Greg: Yeah, last time overall 2 people used "No Action" and 2 used "Action" and that in the end with the calculations it didn't change. With this we can test more than if all of us would just use "No Action".
Referee: 10 seconds left!
Oli: Alright then.
Brielle: Sure, why not.
Referee: Now let's check the results of the second round:
Round-2:
Brielle: No Action +3 (12)
Greg: Action -1 (10)
Oli: Action -1 (8)
Todor: Action -1 (10)
Brielle: I won this round?!
Referee: The 3rd round starts now! You have 5 minutes to decide what cards you use!
Oli: Okay, so there's something we know now.
Greg: Yeah, so the amounts of the used cards are the same. It's not that "If you use 'Action' then it will be calculated as 'No Action' and vice versa".
Oli: There has to be a pattern, it sure is not random.
Greg: The only one who used "No Action" is Todor, but the one who used that was Brielle! What if the cards that Todor uses ends up in Brielle's point calculations?
Oli: Interesting theory, that could work!
Greg: Not just that, Brielle is one seat away from Todor, if we continue this sequence, then that means that Brielle is having my cards, I have Oli's cards, and Oli has Todor's cards! The order the cards are dealt could be shifted by one compared to our seating arrangement.
Oli: And so is it not against the rules?
Greg: If we can trust the referee, then not. But I want to ask something. Hey referee, please, explain the rules once more.
Referee: Of course, but the countdown for this round won't stop as I reexplain the rules.
Referee: All four people will sit around a table, for every round, everyone will have two cards at the start of the turn, a turn will last 5 minutes, in that given time, you have to decide what you will play. The two cards will be "Action" and "No Action" every round. There are three possible outcomes considered with the ratio of Action and No Action.
- Firstly, if everyone uses the same, either Action or the other, everyone will lose points. The one having the most points will lose 3 points, the one having the second most loses 2 and the other two loses 1. Same if there's 2 with the same points. If everyone has the same amount, everyone loses just 1 point.
- If the ratio is 1:3, then the individual that used a different card than the other will gain 3, and the others lose 1 point. So to put it simply, the one with the ratio of 1, steals a point from the others, and it's not matter who used the Action or No Action.
- And the last one, 2 Action and 2 No Action. Those who used Action gained 1, and those who used No action lost one.
After every round, the cards will be dealt.
Everyone will start with 10 points, the one who has the most points after 10 rounds will win. If someone loses all their points, meaning they have 0, will lose, and because this game needs 4 players, if that happens, or if someone is cheating, so gets disqualified from the game, the game will end, it won't continue with 3 players and again, the one having the most points wins. If there is more player that has the most points, all of those players are considered as winners.
