As Mattias tried climbing faster he felt the world behind him stopped as hushed like a hand over his mouth he felt that he will die of he doesn't reach that peak in time but as he throught the air chilled making every hair on his arms stand straight up as if trying to flee his very body He didn't need Manu to explain it he could feel that instinct to run any where and hide
The sky began to shake above them the storm had finally started forming
"MOVE FASTER!!!" Manu shouted from somewhere above but his voice could not reach Mattias as he was too far "It's…..forming…..don't....stop!"
Mattias didn't have the time to make out what he had said He just pressed himself closer to the mountain wall, knuckles pale as he jammed his fingers deeper into the cracks trying to prepare for the worst
Then the sky cracked rang
Not with thunder but a sound shattering glass
Then a drop to big and bright to not be seen fell opening in the clouds above the lower it came
"What is that"Mattias muttered under his breath.
As it fell it shed its glowing parts like butterflies that covered everything in the night sky
They were elegant gentle and fell like butterflies yet They didn't slow down they kept falling faster and faster sheets of light that looked like lightning folded in the sky Every time one fell faster the air felt colder
Yet they didn't look like they were falling just on they ground
"MATTAIS!" Manu's shouted from the summit. "DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH YOU!"
Looking up Mattias cursed under his breath as he got ready
The first lightning fold fell like butterfly made of light it came towards him fast enough that the air around him heated.
Mattias didn't think.
He jumped to to the side
The butterfly detonated instantly as it hit the mountain bursting into needles of white static that followed Mattias as he tried moving upwards till they hit his leg and one arm
"What exactly are this things?!" he shouted
Another butterfly hit next to him
Then three more fell towards him.
Mattias climbing up even faster himself grit his teeth in pain as more of those needle things were making him feel weaker the more hit him
For a heart-stopping moment a butterfly fell right in front of him blowing half his face off
As the black goo started repairing it he was disoriented as he was have trouble forcing
He grabbed the nearest crack and pressed himself closer it climbing slowly but the needles kept making him weaker and weaker
He didn't know what was going on or why he was climbing but all he remembered was he needed to get up
As he climbed another butterfly fell near him blowing his arm off and the needles piercing his side the black goo started pushing them out of his body
Above him, Manu was flying around dodging the needles and butterflies that were falling everywhere around him the Light illuminated him over and over as each butterfly fell from the sky
Manu looked strained as he couldn't stop or will be dead in and instant
"This is not comforting"
Mattias finally getting some sense saw that he wasn't that far from the top as compared to before but he needs to reach it before another one butterfly falls near him yet more came pouring down the mountain.
Mattias that he can't care if his body gets blown up he needs to keep moving
"For the love of all that's holy!" Mattias said
The black goo reacted to this and expanded expanding to his back covering it and directly coating Mattias is spine .
Making him feel an intense pain but thanks to this he could climbed faster and lunch himself farther but the pain was like having his spine ripped out"
But he was still able to move so he just keep going as butterflies hit all near him although the needles hit him all over the black goo keep repairing his body.
He now had about ten meters left to the top.
But as time passed a butterfly finally hit him directly making him fall and time seemed to freeze as Mattias off the side of the mountain
Manu flying down towards him as hundreds of thousands of needles followed him looked at him as he fell
Mattias falling just stared as Manu flew towards him holding his had out
The sight was like a dream Mattias watch as time felt frozen handing his hand out to Manu
Manu descending grinned at the absurdity of this moment
Holding his own hand out to Mattias the two grinned as their hands got closer to each other
