After Deacon and Maiciel left the church the rest of the evening was spent learning, and while they were training Jacob in a pocket dimension above the world unknown to even Illias sat upon a beanbag made out of solid light. Surfing through the many different functions he sees a name, Deacon's name and his status. Strength unit at 4, Vitality unit at 4, Stamina unit at 3, Speed unit at 4, Magic at 1. His skills and feats reading at null. "So, you haven't done anything, yet it seems. well let's see what this task set is like for you." Jacob scrolls and tabs into a new function within the image projected into his mind then sets a simple task after checking through Deacon's senses what is going on. "Let's help you grow, shall we?" With a wide smile and infectious excitement Jacob confirms the task.
While Deacon was resting after a rather brutal beating by Maiciel he heard a notification in his mind. "Please complete the following tasks. Exercise using basic spear thrusts for 45 minutes and rest for 5 minutes. Exercise using basic blocks for 45 minutes and rest for 5. Exercise using basic mana manipulation for 45 minutes and rest for 12 hours. Upon completion of the task, you will gain a stat point to allocate into 1 of 5 attributes. Warning allocating attributes unevenly will result in excruciating pain. Upon Failure host will feel the same excruciating pain. Message from task manager." Deacon repulsed initially at the pain bit of the information that came into his mind changed his focus to the exercises and the reward. He then became excited at the fact there was apparently someone who was giving him a push to get stronger, but before he could truly think about it Maiciel came into view. "15-minute break is up. Assume a fighting stance and try to last longer than 1 second this time." It was a one-sided beat down as the maid angel was surprisingly and overwhelmingly strong.
After several more beat downs for half the rest of the day Deacon decides to retire to his room and think about room and board. Maiciel had said he could stay within the dorm for the priest as he had been missing for quite some time, supposedly dragged away by a desperate slime woman. Deacon thought about it and decided tomorrow he'd think about finding out more about where this slime might've taken the poor priest or if he even was still alive. A thought crept its way into his mind one that had been eating at him since he received a task earlier. Who was the person who apologized about the penalties of the side quest like task he was given?
After resting he decided he would leave it to tomorrow Deacon's problems. Upon waking up he felt a bit drowsy as his muscles still sore from yesterday but slightly better today made their presence apparent. Slinking out of bed and falling onto the floor wincing in pain he looks up at Maiciel who is just watching his pathetic form. "Good morning. Breakfast is on the end table, and a change of clothes is ready. Your current ones need sowing. Fix yourself." With a proper salute Deacon like a well-trained soldier got to his morning routine out of fear then 15 minutes later he was eating breakfast and ready to start the day. Maiciel had told him they'd be easing up on the training with just exercise until he could take a proper punch.
By the end of the morning Deacon's attributes were slightly better. Strength at 5, Vitality at 4, Stamina at 4, Speed at 6, Magic at 2. Slowly but surely, he was becoming something resembling a squire. Jacob looking over at Deacon's growth at this point saw that he had completed one of the three tasks. He also noticed how the time limit was unlimited since Deacon wasn't penalized for the tasks left behind at the end of the day. He then decided to spy on the current inhabitants of the town.
Jacob knew well this was the world of Monster Girl Quest at this point since he had seen the Goddess Illias through Deacon's memories one of the many perks of binding the system to him. If he didn't know better, he would've easily fallen for Illias but decided to leave well enough alone. "The crazy woman would definitely try to control me if she knew of me, best to work on whatever system is here to see if I can grow alongside Deacon. A meal costs 3 to 5 depending on quality and water is free. He soon redeems as much water as he can and then buys a meal worth 4 points.
