Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: The Preservation Aeon Is My Third Great-Uncle

Seeing Vah panic in such a fluster, Emiya couldn't help but feel both angry and pitiful. Vah had indeed caused the deaths of many, but his research was also undeniably necessary.

Belobog was far too fragile. Anyone with a brain could see, if they didn't quickly learn to resist, or even become immune to the snowstorm, every single person in Belobog would die.

The surface world looked like flowers blooming in prosperity, but that was only because someone was bearing the burden behind the scenes.

Back then, when Emiya was a Heroic Spirit, wasn't he another Vah as well, sacrificing the few in order to save the many?

The only difference, perhaps, was that Vah could die and be released, while a Heroic Spirit could never be released.

"Vah, you don't need to be afraid. We've brought you a chance to become human again." Emiya said, taking out a vial of anti-cold medicine and handing it to Vah.

"I've mostly fixed up your body. Go test this medicine yourself."

With doubt in his heart, Vah took the vial and held it in his hand. He carefully checked his current physical state, and just as Emiya had said, he felt much more light and clear, and he could even make sounds from his mouth again. His hearing had also become much sharper.

"Hey, why are you spacing out? I'm busy here!" Zoe impatiently smacked Vah with her hand. Without controlling her strength, she almost slapped Vah into rolling his eyes back, nearly sending him into shock again.

"Zoe, sit properly on the chair." Emiya, reacting quickly, caught Vah and after a while of fussing, rescued him again.

"Sorry, but this guy looks so dopey, I've lost interest in him." Zoe sat on the chair, swinging her little legs, holding in her hand the snowstorm immunity drug Vah had poured his heart and soul into, her face full of disdain.

"This guy must be trying to make something like a vaccine, to fundamentally change the human constitution."

"But the human body is so complicated, at his research pace, even if he had 200 years and twenty thousand test subjects, he might still fail."

"Y-you, you, don't talk so big! If even I can't succeed, then no one in Belobog can succeed!" Though a quack doctor, Vah was still confident in his snowstorm immunity drug.

"In less than ten years, I'll have a completely safe, side-effect-free snowstorm immunity drug! By then, the Silvermane Guards won't be limited to Belobog's surroundings, they'll truly expand outward and carve new lands!"

"Tch, whether I'm talking big or not, just open your squinty eyes and test it for yourself."

"Fine then, little girl. If you're just arrogant and wasting my time, I'll have the Silvermane Guards teach you a lesson!"

Though he didn't believe that the pouty little girl with a proud look on her face could really be that powerful, out of seriousness for research, Vah still moved his professional tools and carefully started testing.

What he saw was utterly shocking, his worldview, upheld for decades, was overturned completely in just a few minutes.

"Why is the Stellaron inside so docile? Why is the Stellaron no longer radiating? Why, when covering flesh cells, do the cells still receive nutrients? Why…?"

Vah felt like his head was about to explode, his mind filled with a hundred thousand "whys." Every detail of this drug completely shattered his understanding.

It was like one day, someone suddenly told you, "Actually, the Preservation Aeon is my third great-uncle, and he comes over to my house every day to bum food."

You, not believing a word, rush to her house to check. Not only do you see the Preservation Aeon there, you also see Nihility and Abundance sitting too. They're all at the poker table, waving at you to join because they're short one player.

"Hey, snap out of it already!" Zoe clapped her fingers loudly, pulling Vah out of his storm of thoughts. "It's way too early to be surprised. This medicine is just a test product I came up with in under 7 hours!"

"That's impossible!" Vah's voice was hoarse, spit flying from his mouth as he shouted in excitement. Luckily Zoe was quick enough to dart behind Emiya to avoid the spray.

"You brat, stop joking around! Do you even know what processes are required to make a drug? Do you know how much time human testing alone takes? Do you know..."

"Still bringing up your primitive human experiments? You such a dumbass! If it weren't for Emiya going soft now, he probably would've already slapped you into the wall!"

Zoe's face was full of righteous fury. "With my calculating ability, all I need to do is input detailed human data, and I can instantly calculate precise outcomes. That's thousands of times better than your primitive, time-wasting human experiments!"

"I don't believe it!" Vah's tone was firm. This was far too absurd, probably even one of Lord Erudition's envoys would have great difficulty doing something like this.

"Hand over your crappy drug."

Facts speak louder than words. Zoe collected some of Vah's body samples, and in just 3 hours, she had listed every possible condition that could appear when the snowstorm immunity drug was applied to the human body.

Seeing Vah collapse to the ground in shock, Zoe's mouth stretched so wide it nearly reached the sky. She instinctively raised her little foot, wanting to step on his head to show off her glorious achievement, but fortunately Emiya grabbed her in time and set her down.

"But even if your medicine can extend effectiveness to one month, or even two months, it's still useless."

At some point, Vah had started addressing Zoe respectfully. "Without complete immunity to the snowstorm, we ultimately have no way out. Resources are running out."

Although Vah no longer lived inside Belobog, thanks to his loyal followers, the intelligence he obtained far exceeded even that of the Silvermane Guards.

He knew the Geomarrow was nearly exhausted. Supreme Guardian Cocolia had sealed off the path to the undercity precisely to hide this truth. That was why he was so desperate to develop medicine.

"Why waste effort trying to gain immunity to the snowstorm?" Zoe spread her little hands, flashing a confident, charming smile.

"My goal is to completely eliminate the blizzards and cold, so I can bask in the warm sun every day and see the ever-changing wonders of nature."

"T-this… how could that possibly be done?" Vah voiced doubt, but in his heart, he couldn't help but believe Zoe's bold declaration. This delicate, adorable girl, in Vah's eyes at that moment, was already almost on par with a god.

"Look at the computer. Inside are the full details of Ice Tree 1.0, and saplings I've named Rift Trees, which can stabilize space so rifts no longer appear." Zoe snapped her fingers, and the computer automatically switched to the data page.

"When I'm in the mood, I'll properly calculate the data. It won't take long before we can start mass production."

After all, this was the world she would be living in for the long run. Zoe had also studied sweet, delicious peach trees, as well as genetically modified wheat, cabbage, and oranges.
