Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Running Away from Home

The Brachiosaurus Battleship docked at Oni Island's harbor.

Queen the Plague leaped down, his light and graceful landing drawing a round of applause.

"Muhahaha, boys, follow me to watch this fool—gah!" Queen's boisterous laughter was abruptly cut short.

Early bird or not, timing was everything.

Queen had arrived early to secure a front-row seat for Luo Xia's beatdown show, only to run headfirst into the man himself.

"Yo, you're back! Perfect timing—let's pick up where we left off!" Luo Xia cracked his knuckles, wearing a friendly smile.

Seeing this, Queen's instincts screamed danger, a sense of foreboding washing over him.

"W-wait, I'm not here today to—"

Whack!

Queen's words were cut short by a brutal slap to the face.

Same old recipe, same old flavor.

Luo Xia's merciless strike sent Queen flying dozens of meters.

"You bastard! Don't think I'm actually scared of you! Don't get too full of yourself!" Enraged, Queen transformed into his Brachiosaurus Beastman form.

Coiling Power Queen!!!

His Mechanical Claw shot out, aiming to grab Luo Xia—only to grasp at empty air.

In their previous three fights, this move had never missed, always successfully snatching Luo Xia.

But today was different. His attack had been dodged.

While Queen was still processing this, Luo Xia seized his Mechanical Claw and yanked hard.

The next second, the massive Brachiosaurus was flung into the air, arcing in a half-circle before crashing down with a thunderous impact.

Boom!

The ground shook, sending up a cloud of dust.

Luo Xia stepped forward, raining punches down on Queen's entire body.

Before, to keep Queen as a sparring partner, Luo Xia had held back, careful not to go all out for fear of scaring him off.

But now, after Queen had already run away once, Luo Xia dropped the act entirely.

Besides, even though he was training his Armor Dragon Slayer Power, constantly taking beatings had built up a simmering frustration in Luo Xia—one that desperately needed an outlet.

And just like that, Queen had delivered himself right to Luo Xia's doorstep. Naturally, Luo Xia wasn't about to hold back.

Ten minutes later, thoroughly satisfied, Luo Xia dusted off his hands and strode toward the Oni Island Palace.

Left behind was a battered, bruised, and thoroughly disoriented Queen, aching as if his body might fall apart.

"Damn it, I must be cursed!" Queen cursed under his breath.

He hadn't even gotten to watch someone else get beaten up before becoming the punching bag himself.

"Lord Queen, should we still go watch?" a hesitant Plague Faction pirate asked.

"W-watch my ass! Help me back to Udon!" Queen resolved then and there—Oni Island would have to choose between him and Luo Xia.

Because from Luo Xia's final expression, Queen had understood the unspoken message in his eyes: I'll beat you up every time I see you.

...

Skull House.

"Lord Luo Xia, you really can't go in! Lord Kaido is still asleep. If he's disturbed, his morning temper is terrifying!"

The little loli Hotei spread her arms, blocking Luo Xia's path.

"Relax, we already had our fun yesterday. No worries."

Luo Xia grabbed the little girl by the collar and tossed her aside, then punched the door to Kaido's bedchamber clean off its hinges with a deafening crash.

"Kaido, I'm here! Time to wake up!"

Bang!

Whoosh!

Luo Xia was sent flying from the palace by a heavy blow, crashing into a wall dozens of meters away.

"Kid, are you out of your mind? You keep coming back to pick a fight! Didn't I say it's over? Over! Can't you freaking understand?!" Kaido, wearing a sleeping cap and pajamas, cursed angrily.

On Oni Island, his routine was always to sleep during the day and stay up all night drinking at banquets.

He had just fallen asleep when Luo Xia showed up—how could Kaido not be furious?

"I also said it's not up to you to decide when it's over!" Luo Xia stood up from the rubble, dusting himself off. "If you're a man, then fulfill the agreement to the end!"

"Fine, fine, have it your way. I'll freaking kill you!" Kaido laughed in anger, swinging his massive club for a brutal beating.

...

Day Five.

"Kaido, you can't possibly be sleeping at this hour, right?" Luo Xia grinned.

Kaido, mid-squat on the toilet: "???"

I. AM. ON. MY. MORNING. SHIFT!!!

Thunder, Rumble, Eight, Trigrams!!!

...

Day Six.

Splash~

A head emerged from the vast, mist-covered bath.

"Enjoying your soak? How about we finish today's task first?" Luo Xia smiled.

Kaido, relaxing in the bath: "!!!"

INTERNET. CAFE. GRASS. FIELD!!!

Boom!

...

Day Seven, Day Eight, Day Nine…

By Day Ten, Kaido started slacking off. The moment Luo Xia appeared, he'd swing his spiked club a few times and call it a day.

...

Day Eleven.

Clang~

Luo Xia tossed a pair of Explosion Shackles in front of Kaido.

"I removed Yamato's Explosion Shackles. Not even Jesus could stop me—I said what I said!" Luo Xia declared boldly.

"Brat, are you testing the limits of my patience?" Kaido's eyelid twitched violently.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

...

Day Twelve, Day Thirteen, Day Fourteen…

Finally, on Day Fifteen, Kaido couldn't take it anymore and chose to… run away from home.

The Azure Dragon soared into the sky, riding the clouds and mist as he left Wano Country.

He'd seen plenty of people act like bosses after owing debts.

But nowadays, even those who owed beatings were acting like bosses.

In his fifty-plus years of life, this was the first time Kaido had encountered someone who actively sought out beatings.

Kaido loved beating people, but he didn't like being chased around every day, begging to be hit—it made him feel like a pirate captain clocking in for work. The worst part was he never knew when or where Luo Xia would suddenly pop up.

Sometimes while he was sleeping, sometimes on the toilet, sometimes in the bath, and even worse…

It wasn't like Kaido hadn't considered beating Luo Xia into a pulp, leaving him bedridden for weeks.

But lately, Luo Xia had grown increasingly resilient—and absurdly disciplined. He'd take exactly fifty hits a day, then leave immediately.

With everyone watching, a sober Kaido couldn't just break the agreement.

In the end, pushed to his limit, Kaido decided to set sail. Surely Luo Xia wouldn't haunt him all the way out to sea.

"Urorororo, I'm such a genius!"

Buru buru buru~ Gacha~

The Den Den Mushi connected.

"Kaido, where are you?" Luo Xia asked.

"Hic~ Had too much to drink, went out for a stroll!" Kaido hiccuped.

"Come back soon. Don't forget our agreement! Not a single day can be missed!" Luo Xia said seriously.

"Urorororo, kid, we did make a deal. But I never said it had to be consecutive. As long as I hit you two hundred times in the end, it doesn't count as breaking the agreement. That's it—I'm off to have some fun!"

With that, Kaido hung up, his dragon face brimming with smug satisfaction.

"Kid, you're still too green to fight me!"

Wait... seems like I'm the one being forced to leave now?!

Realizing this, Kaido felt a surge of irritation.

...

Day Sixteen, Day Seventeen, Day Eighteen...

Day Nineteen.

"Wororororo, King, has that brat settled down yet?" Kaido asked.

"No! That guy's been targeting me again recently!" King the Conflagration replied hastily, the sound of wind rushing in the background. "Can't talk now—he's catching up!"

Day Twenty.

"Lord Kaido, if nothing else works, maybe you should just come back. Fifty beatings a day would surely calm him down," King the Conflagration suggested tentatively.

"I'm Kaido of the Beasts! Why should I cater to his demands?!" Kaido flatly refused.

"Then... how about transferring him somewhere else?" King proposed.

"Kibi, Ringo, or Hakumai?"

Wano Country had seven major regions: Kuri, Udon, Kibi, Ringo, Hakumai, the Flower Capital, and Oni Island.

The Flower Capital was under the rule of Shogun Kurozumi Orochi, Kuri had recently been handed over to Jack for management, and Udon's mining prison was always under Queen's control.

That left Kibi, Ringo, and Hakumai. Hakumai also had the Port of Passage, which controlled entry and exit from the country.

As for Kibi and Ringo, they had already become desolate wastelands—perfect places to exile troublesome individuals.

"Probably won't work, Lord Kaido," King's voice came through the Den Den Mushi. "That guy's a battle maniac. He gets restless if he doesn't fight for a day. Unless we put him somewhere crowded, he won't be satisfied."

"Then where do you suggest?" Kaido asked impatiently.

"Throw him into Udon. Let him manage the mining prison with Queen. It's full of Wano's samurai—let them fight it out," King suggested.

"Wororororo, brilliant idea!" Kaido praised King's proposal..
