Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Storm Breaks

Los Angeles – Cemetery

The family stood in black. No engines, no laughter, no sound but the shuffle of feet and the wind in the trees.

Han's coffin lowered slowly into the earth, the weight of silence crushing every heart around it. Roman cracked jokes no more, Tej said nothing. Even Brian, usually the glue, kept his head bowed, Mia's hand gripping his tightly.

Dom stood motionless, sunglasses hiding his eyes, but his clenched jaw betrayed the war raging inside him. Another brother gone. Another piece of family ripped away.

When the service ended, the crew lingered by their cars. Dom's voice cut through the stillness:

"This wasn't an accident. Han was family. And someone made this personal."

No one doubted him. They just didn't yet know how deep the blood feud ran.

DSS Headquarters – Los Angeles

Meanwhile, chaos was already brewing elsewhere. At the Agency's HQ, Hobbs hunched over a terminal, scanning intel reports on a shadow named Deckard Shaw. Files listed him as former British Special Forces, highly decorated, highly lethal. And now he was hunting.

The room shook. The glass walls shattered inward as an explosion ripped through the floor. Out of the smoke, a figure charged Shaw himself.

The two titans collided. Hobbs, all raw muscle and fury, slammed Shaw into steel walls. Shaw countered with brutal precision, every strike meant to kill. Desks splintered, glass rained, the building groaned under their fight.

Hobbs launched Shaw through a window, but Shaw recovered, hurling Hobbs into a reinforced beam. Bones cracked. The fight ended with Shaw detonating another charge. The explosion flung Hobbs from the upper floors, glass and fire raining down.

He survived the fall but barely.

Hospital – Los Angeles

Dom walked into the hospital, silent as a shadow. Hobbs lay in the bed, bandaged, bruised, arm strapped to his chest. Yet his eyes still burned with fire.

Dom stood beside him. "Who is he?"

Hobbs's voice was gravel, but steady. "Deckard Shaw. Owen's older brother. Ex-SAS. Black ops. Ghost. You're not hunting a soldier, Toretto. You're hunting death itself."

Dom's gaze hardened. "Then I'll find him before he finds us."

Hobbs reached out, gripping Dom's shoulder with his good arm. "Promise me one thing. Don't stop. Don't back down. Not till it's done."

Dom gave a single nod and walked out, his footsteps heavy with war.

Echo Park – The House

That night, peace returned briefly. The crew gathered at Dom's old house. Brian played with Jack in the front yard. Mia cooked in the kitchen. Roman and Tej argued over car parts, the same familiar banter filling the air.

For a moment, it almost felt like the old days.

Then came the package. A small box, plain, sitting on the front step. Brian carried it inside, setting it on the table.

Seconds later, the world tore apart.

The explosion ripped the house into fire and splinters. Windows shattered, walls collapsed. The family scrambled, dragging Mia and Jack to safety, Roman and Tej shielding them from falling debris.

Dom stood in the street, the inferno reflecting in his eyes, fists clenched so hard his knuckles bled.

The home that had stood as their heart gone.

And in the flames, Dom finally understood: Deckard Shaw wasn't just coming for them. He was already here.
