Jax's POV
We'd found a solid lead on where Callie may have come from.
I'd completely erased it from my memory but hearing the name "Shining Cresent" sparked my mind into remembering.
As pups our Father used to tell us of the Shining Cresent pack, it was in the story of the two brother alphas and the war that waged between them when one brother kept his brothers mate from him.
Not only was it one of the oldest packs in our history but the pack members themselves had magic running through their blood. A magic the Moon Goddess took back once the war started.
Every true pack member's wolves were completely white, their eyes golden. A combination that's completely extinct now.
Those pack members also had different magical capabilities that ranged from healing powers, strength to control over the elements.
It was said the Alpha Luna had it all.
A direct descendant of the Moin Goddess herself.
After the war the pack tried to rebuild, but enemy packs hunted the Alpha Luna, her powers somthing they wanted to use and manipulate. She went into hiding to protect her pack. After many years the pack had evolved into many different smaller packs which eventually grew ffrom there.
It was said that the Alpha Luna lived a sheltered life, her children not even knowing her true identity. It was believed her family tree had only sons, the Moon Goddess' way of protecting the family bloodline.
Prophecies spoke of a girl being born to the bloodline would emerge with the same powers of the Alpha Luna.
It had been so long, the story of the Alpha Luna, handed down by generations became just that. A story. Told to pups at bedtime to keep siblings from squabbling.
I looked up at Callie, she was sat on Alfie's lap, head leaning in Kane and we scoured the texts in front of us. She looked breathtakingly beautiful. Her crimson curls bunched up in a messy bun, her skin slightly flushed with a tint of pink. Her emerald eyes glistening despite the clear exhaustion drawn on her face.
My heart swelled, I couldn't believe we were finally at a place we could all be in the same room, she seemed so comfortable with all of us all of a sudden as if a switch had flicked in her heart to love us all.
"It's the mate bond." Alfie's voice drifted into my mind.
"I know, we still have a long way to go but I just can't help appreciating how happy she seems suddenly." I replied curtly.
"It's the heat… being around all four of us..her wolf wants us to mark her." Alfie said, his tone soft, a hint of sadness in it.
I looked at him, my head tilting, not understanding why he wasn't happy.
"After the heat, she'll remember why she was mad, she'll probably hate all of us for touching her." He explained.
The realisation dawned on me. She would hate us. Callie had conditions to our relationship.
Take things slow.
Be honest.
Callie going into heat would send our wolves, including hers into a frenzy, we wouldn't be able to keep our hands off her and she would want, no, need us to give her a release.
"We need to tell her she's going into heat." I opened the mindlink to Kane and Knox also.
They both stopped dead, eyes meeting mine.
Knox cleared his throat.
"Callie?" He called softly. She looked up and noticed all four of us staring at her with warmth in our eyes.
"Well that doesn't look good." She said with a nervous chuckle.
"Why are you all looking at me like that?" She spoke quietly, her eyes now fixed on Alfie's.
He sighed deeply " we need to tell you something sweetheart… and we don't think you'll like it." He said softly.
Confusion swept over her face, she replaced it with a stern look of defiance.
"Okay." She said confidently.
We looked around at eachother, waiting for one of us to speak up and tell Callie.
Knox broke the silence "Callie, have you heard of a she wolf going into heat before?" He asked.
She shook her head, face filled it worry.
"It's um.. well basically… when a she wolf meets her mate.. or mates. If they don't, mark her quickly. Her body goes into heat. It also happens once mates but only once a year.." he trailed off.
Callie's face remained calm, her eyes, however read confusion.
"So what happens?" She asked slowly.
Uncomfortable silence fell in the room.
"You'll start by spiking a fever, your body will become very hot, you'll have… urges.. that only we will be able to satisfy. This will last for two days." Alfie responded to Callie's question.
A slow realisation dawned on Callie's face, shock or surprise burst in her eyes. But she didn't say anything.
"Because you've been around all four of us your body will start to crave our physical touch. It will set your body into heat. When that happens, you'll want all four of us. Only then it will stop." I added.
"D..do you mean.. have sex?" Callie asked innocently.
Alfie's jaw ticked a smirk forming on the corners of his lips.
Kane shot him a glare.
"Yes Callie, you'll want us to have sex with you…we know that you may not truly want it but your wolf's instincts will overpower you. You won't be able to stop it." I said quietly.
Her eyes widened in shock.
It hurt me to know that the thought of us sharing her, taking her in our bed terrifies her. But I also understood why she didn't want this.. not yet anyway. We still had a long way to go in mending her heart and soul.
"There are things we can do to slow it from happening, put it off a bit,but we can't stop it completely." Knox said to Callie, her head shot to his.
"What do you mean?" She eyed him.
"Our healer can mix a tonic for you, it'll put it off a few days maybe even weeks but once it wears off, you heat will come." He replied.
Callie thought for a moment about Knox's words.
"No… I don't want want that." She finally said, holding her chin high.
Flutters grew in my chest, was she finally accepting us.
"I don't want anymore medications or.. tonics that push my wolf to one side. I need to trust her and myself so I can finally shift." She said reverently.
Pride glisented in our eyes as we stared at her.
Alfie rubbed her back comfortingly.
"Are you sure? It means giving into the mate bond." Kane asked.
Callie nodded "It may be my wolf talking, but being here with all of you.." she paused, looking to Kane and Knox -"it feels right, I want all of you, I want to embrace my wolf and what it means to be mates."
I was stunned. Callie had grown so confident and sure of herself in the short time we'd known her. I blinked trying to process if this was really happening. The blush on Callie's cheeks confirmed what she had just said.
As we let the silence settle in the room we continued reading, together. My eyes kept wandering to hers, a blush rising in her cheeks each time. She shifted on Alfie's lap where she'd remained sitting. Then an intoxicating scent brushed my nose… arousal.
We all must've sensed it as our eyes shot to Callie.
