Chapter 16 - Tyrants’ Gambit

The battlefield boiled with fury, thunder, and fire. Heroes unleashed their wrath, fighting with the weight of Hulk's death behind every strike. But while they burned with rage, two figures stood calm amid the storm—Thanos and Darkseid.

The Mad Titan lifted the Gauntlet, the stones glowing with malevolent brilliance. At the same moment, Darkseid's eyes ignited, Omega energy radiating like the fires of apocalypse. The two tyrants had not joined this war for pride or vengeance. They had come for dominion—and now, they moved as one.

"Let them bleed themselves dry," Thanos said coldly."And when they fall, we inherit everything," Darkseid replied.

With a single synchronized strike, they reshaped the war. Thanos warped space with the Reality Stone, bending the battlefield into twisted dimensions where physics betrayed the heroes. Buildings folded inward, gravity shifted sideways, and the ground itself betrayed those who stood on it.

At the same time, Darkseid unleashed a storm of Omega Beams, each one tracking relentlessly, cutting down soldiers, tearing through Strange's wards, and forcing Superman and Thor to abandon their assault on Doomsday to shield their allies.

Iron Man's HUD exploded with warnings as his armor struggled against collapsing physics. "They're not just attacking—they're rewriting the damn battlefield!"Batman's grim voice answered: "This is the gambit. They've been waiting for this moment."

The chaos deepened as Doomsday, empowered by the distortion, rose again, stronger than ever. Hela rallied her undead legions, Loki cloaked the battlefield in illusions, and even Deathstroke, battered but alive, struck from the shadows.

The heroes had fought with rage. The villains fought with strategy. And in that shift, the balance tipped.

The gambit was working. For the first time, the mightiest heroes of two worlds were not just losing a battle—they were being outplayed.
