She pricked herself.
Once, Twice.
Then finally, the tears brimmed in her eyes, trickling down her cheeks slowly.
''I—I really don't understand. We've been together for 5 years! 5 long years..!'' She whined, making sure to sniffle between sobs.
''It's so unfair!! My mental health is so messed up, I had to sleep at a hospital!'' She continued, bawling her eyes out while she inwardly basked in joy at how the receiver coerced her, offering sweet words in an attempt to calm her down.
But that was not the target.
''I want us to get married and have a baby too. But he doesn't—doesn't touch me.'' She hiccuped, making sure to leave a very impactful feeling.
''What?!'' The receiver shouted, making Rita nod victoriously.
A smile curled up her lips as she realized that she had hit the nail right on the head.
The receiver said some other words but Rita didn't bother listening.
She had gotten what she wanted anyways.
''…I—I can't wait for you to be here.'' Rita answered before hanging up the phone.
She wiped the fake tears off her eyes, her face dripping with excitement.
For a moment, she had forgotten who she was. She was Rita! The girl who could make every man fall to their knees and every lady cower in fear.
Why should she beg for what she wanted when she could simply take it?!
She stood up and strolled to the washroom, dabbing her face with a wet tissue as she cleaned every trace of tears off her eyes.
Once done, she dabbed her face with a towel and headed back to the bed, awaiting Lucas's arrival.
After a while, she sighted him coming into the room, holding a paper bag in his hand.
''Hey!'' She murmured, a smile on her lips as she tried to get off the bed.
''Stay.'' Lucas uttered, stopping her.
He placed the paper bag on the bed side table and took out the food, making Rita moan as the scent wafted up her nostril.
She pouted her lips seductively as she waved her bandaged hands in Lucas face.
''You can eat with your right hands.'' Lucas said, ignoring her cute expression.
Rita's smile faltered.
''I'm left handed. Remember?'' She asked, her brow raised slightly.
Lucas cleared his throat.
''I'll help you out.'' He answered, ignoring her previous question as he sliced into the burger and placed the teeny bits into her mouth.
''Thank you babe.'' Rita cooed, licking the cutlery seductively as her index finger moved to draw circles on his legs, occasionally moving forward to his crotch area.
''Your right hand works properly. Here..'' Lucas said, taking her hands off his legs and placing the food on it.
''I have something urgent to attend to.'' He continued, not even noticing how the smile on Rita's face changed into a scowl.
''Wait!'' Rita called out, making him stop in his tracks.
''Are you really seeing someone else?'' She asked, her voice calm, distant.. sad.
Lucas turned around as he stared at her sad expression.
His heart pricked at him for how much of an asshole he had become since his father died.
He could still remember Harmonica's words in the garage.
'…What do you fucking want?! You left me for Rita. Now you're trying to be with me again. What do you really want you crazy motherfucker?!!'
He didn't know.
He didn't know what he wanted anymore.
All he knew was that he had fucked up. Really bad!
He had not only wronged Harmonica but Rita too. He just couldn't..
''Let's call off the engagement.'' He finally said after moments of silence.
Rita eyes widened.
''You're joking right?'' She asked, getting off the bed as she walked towards him.
She held the helm of his shirt, an hysterical laughter escaping her lips as she shook her head in denial.
''Tell me you're joking.'' She asked to no one in particularly. Because she wasn't sure Lucas was even listening.
He pried her hands off his shirt and stepped back, his eyes not meeting hers.
''I don't love you. Not anymore…'' He breathed out, turning his back to her.
''You're doing all this because of her right?! Because of that woman the tabloid caught you kissing!'' Rita snapped, wiping the tears off her eyes.
Her whole eyes were bloodshot as she tried to come to terms with his sudden change in attitude.
Who was this woman that was making him act crazed?!
''The tabloid don't need to know about our separation for now. At least so you can save face'' Lucas answered, ignoring her.
''I'm asking you a goddanm question!'' Rita shouted, whimpering as the pain of Lucas's betrayal stung her.
Was this perhaps how harmonica felt when Lucas dumped her?
Rita chuckled in self pity.
She couldn't believe she was thinking about Lucas's ex-wife right now.
''If you walk out that door, I'll make sure to destroy both you and that woman! Mark my words Lucas Stone!'' Rita screamed, falling to the floor in exhaustion.
She had a perfectly made up plan but Lucas was trying to screw it. She couldn't let him!
''I'll like to see you try.'' Lucas murmured, his figure fading away as he walked out of the hospital room.
The door was still wide open and people peeked into the room, some gazing at her with pity, others In curiosity.
''What the fuck are you looking at?!'' She shouted, the harshness of her voice making them scramble away in fear.
Whimpering, Rita got off the floor and dusted off her butt.
Her bandaged hands reached up her face to clean every tear that ruined the outline of her perfect face.
Lucas didn't know who he was messing with.
She recited her daily affirmation inwardly as she walked towards the door.
She slammed it so hard, the sound resonated through the hospital.
With a sly smirk, she reached for her phone and placed a call to her private investigator, sending him the picture of Lucas and that bitch kissing.
''Find her.'' She said immediately the call went through.
After getting a positive response from the receiver, she hung up, smiling evilly.
By the time she was done playing with Lucas's new toy, he was going to come back crawling to her.
