Chapter 47 - Chapter 47. Gigantamax Gengar

Chapter 47. Gigantamax Gengar

"Meowth? What are you doing here?"

Ash Ketchum and the others crowded over, looking at this old nemesis.

Meowth had no intention of explaining anything to them and only struggled nonstop.

"You jerk, let me go! If you want to die, don't drag Meowth along!"

"Why do you say we want to die?" Ash looked at Meowth in puzzlement.

"That giant Dragonite said it was going to kill you—hurry up and let me go, meow!"

"Giant Dragonite?" Bill jotted notes excitedly.

"Kill us!?" Misty was frightened.

"Why would the giant Dragonite want to kill us?"

Natsume lifted Meowth by the scruff and looked at him curiously.

"It's this idiot researcher—he made the giant Dragonite angry, meow!"

Meowth pointed at Bill and began to accuse him.

"Sigh!" Misty covered her face.

Sure enough, getting duped in online courtship would make the other party mad.

"Even if it realized the mating call was fake, it shouldn't be this angry, right?" Bill scratched his head, somewhat embarrassed.

Who would have thought—Meowth flew into a rage at these words. Even with the scruff of his neck pinched, he still strained to stick out a foot to kick at Bill.

"What mating call! The sounds in your lighthouse are all insults—insults!!!"

Meowth stretched out his claws. If Natsume weren't holding him, he would probably have pounced on Bill's face by now.

"Impossible. Although this kind of Pokémon's cry is very strange and rare, I compared it, and it's very similar to some Pokémon courtship audio." Bill didn't believe it.

"Exactly, meow—lewd insults."

Meowth raised a paw, physically and mentally exhausted.

"."

The atmosphere fell into a bizarre silence.

"Roooar—"

A massive roar whipped up a gale, no less than a gigantic tempest, blowing the sea fog away.

The lighthouse's signal light slowly revolved, and in its flicker a giant Dragonite appeared before everyone.

Her eyes were crimson, and she glared at the people on the lighthouse with a savage look.

"Reminder: this seems to be a mother Dragonite with young. We're doomed, meow."

"Great Ball Rotom, Curse Ball!"

A purple beam struck Dragonite in an instant.

Her figure twisted for a moment, but she wasn't sealed by Great Ball Rotom.

"Huh?" Natsume was stunned.

"Natsume, do you have any other ideas?"

White motes of light gathered in the giant Dragonite's mouth. Without the mist, she wouldn't miss this time.

"Extinction Ball!"

A gray-white, terrifying pillar of light struck the giant Dragonite, and her body began to be assimilated into gray-white.

"It worked!"

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

However, the good news didn't last long. The gray-white spread only to the giant Dragonite's neck, then rapidly receded.

In less than a moment, the giant Dragonite returned to normal.

"Roooar—"

The brutality in her eyes intensified, and the white energy motes condensed furiously.

"Natsume, do you have any other way?"

Bill looked at Natsume in despair.

"I don't know. How about throwing Ash up there to sock it one?"

"Come on, this is not the time—Natsume, don't joke around!" Misty snapped.

"Okay, watch my Mega Punch."

Ash was already itching to go, standing on the lighthouse railing.

"Are you an idiot!!!"

Misty hugged his leg and tried to pull him down.

Honora stood behind Natsume, without the slightest look of worry on her face.

"Hmph. Since Mr. Natsume isn't in a hurry, he must have a way."

"Of course I'm not in a hurry. My Rotom has Teleport."

"."

"Mr. Natsume, you won't abandon me, right?"

Honora clenched the hem of Natsume's clothes, afraid he'd suddenly disappear.

"Forget it, I won't joke with you. Rob-the-Rich-to-Aid-the-Poor Ball!"

As he spoke, Great Ball Rotom fired a blue beam that absorbed the charging giant Dragonite.

Seeing this, everyone brightened.

"I knew you had a way, Natsume!" Ash said happily.

"Natsume, how long can this keep it sealed? Professor Oak just reconnected with me—Lance is already on the way!"

Natsume held up three fingers.

"Three minutes?" Bill grew tense, breathing quicker.

Natsume withdrew one finger.

"One, zero."

As soon as he finished speaking, the giant Dragonite reappeared on the sea's surface.

"What good is this—running in advance was the real foresight!" Misty shouted at the top of her lungs.

"Natsume, did you inflict some kind of status condition on the giant Dragonite?"

Brock glanced at the sea. The giant Dragonite seemed a bit dazed, and he couldn't help guessing.

"No."

Natsume shook his head and looked toward the giant Dragonite on the water.

For some unknown reason, she had stopped attacking and kept scrutinizing her own condition.

Even her slightest movements churned the seawater like a tsunami, crashing madly against the cliffs.

Everyone felt the lighthouse under their feet sway.

"Although we don't know why it suddenly stopped, this is a good opportunity, meow."

Meowth reminded them.

"I also think we should take the initiative."

Saying so, Natsume sat on Great Ball Rotom, grabbed Meowth, and flew into the air.

"I told you to run, meow! Don't bring me, meow!!!"

Meowth's terrified voice drew the giant Dragonite's attention.

A pair of huge slit pupils locked onto Natsume.

[Dragonite, Level 100.]

[Ding—Special Pokémon individual "giant Dragonite" discovered.]

[Issuing S-Class Project—"The Unsolved Mystery of the Giant Dragonite."]

"Roooar—"

For some reason, Dragonite focused entirely on Natsume and reached out a hand to grab him.

A level 100 Dragonite?

Natsume was a little astonished. After level fifty, it was very hard for a Pokémon to raise its level.

There were only a dozen or so level 100 Pokémon on record in the League's history.

Still, it should be able to fight a bit, right?

"Gengar, get them out first!"

At Natsume's shout, the next second everyone floated up.

Gengar used telekinetic power to send them to the beach.

"Mr. Natsume!"

Honora looked up at Natsume in the sky, worried.

"Natsume has Teleport. We'd better worry about ourselves and keep a safe distance!" Brock reminded them.

Out on the sea, after failing to grab Natsume several times, the giant Dragonite's expression grew impatient.

"Gengar!"

Natsume shouted downward.

"Gengaa—"

The purple ghost answered, thinking he was being called to save the day.

Unexpectedly, a green beam swallowed him up.

Inside Great Ball Rotom, Gengar felt nothing but strangeness as countless black-and-red particles swarmed around him, crazily drilling into his body!

"Go, Gigantamax Gengar!"

"Boom—"

A torrent of black-and-red particles erupted from within Great Ball Rotom.

The sky filled with a black-and-red thunderstorm, serpentine lightning pulling out a vast shadow that blanketed the entire coast.

A Gengar magnified innumerable times appeared, opening its mouth like a great gate, aiming at Dragonite.

"That is—!"

Down below, everyone forgot to flee.

"Isn't Gigantamaxing impossible in the Kanto region right now!?" Bill's face lit with excitement.

How did Natsume do that!
