Jane's POV
I stood by the window, my arms crossed, watching the dusky skyline dissolve into evening shadows. My fingers tapped against the sill in slow, deliberate rhythm. The palace was quiet, but something inside me buzzed. I hated the idea that Lily was in this palace. I still don't get how she saved Joe, i dont understand the role she played in it and I don't want to understand.
What I know is that I hate the girl, and that she is the reason Joe had to go to war in the first place. If only Joe didn't kill Lucien because of her, there wouldn't have been war in the first place and Joe wouldn't have been hurt.
But who am I to complain?. Because him getting hurt worked out very well for me.
The door opened with a timid knock.
"Come in," I said coldly.
Lily stepped in like a mouse expecting a trap. She shut the door behind her and looked at me, but I didn't move. I just stared at her, letting the silence wrap around us like a noose.
