Chapter 91
Joe's POV
"No…" The word left my lips over and over, like a useless chant against the brutal finality before me. My gaze locked on the man sprawled across the floor, his blood pooling beneath his head. A single bullet wound around his forehead and his lifeless eyes staring into nothing.
I crouched, shaking him once, twice, as though I could will life back into his body. "No. No. Wake up." My voice cracked. "You weren't done talking. You weren't done!"
But the truth bled across the floor, undeniable. He was gone.
Rage boiled through me, unrestrained. Why would Ivan do this?.
I turned sharply, my claws half-unsheathed, and faced Ivan. "Why the hell did you do that?" I growled, every word vibrating with fury as my wolf pushed through me.
Ivan didn't flinch. He stood with the gun still lowered in his hand, his expression cold. "He was wasting your time."
