Chapter 119Xavier's POV
The hum of the sun light was oddly soothing. I sat back in the car, my gaze fixed on her small yard.
Sonia crouched by her cracked wall, watering the stubborn plants that managed to survive in the dusty soil. The street lamps flickered weakly overhead, painting her in patches of shadow and silver.
She wasn't doing anything extraordinary. Just humming under her breath, her lips curved in that permanent pout that made her look like she was constantly annoyed. Her faded sleeveless night wear hung loosely against her frame, and the old bumshorts looked like they'd seen better years.
It shouldn't have meant anything. But it did.
My wolf shifted uneasily, my eyes drinking in the sight. For someone with so little, her skin was flawless, the sunlight catching against her arms, her shoulders and it made it shine. Not fragile, not painted like the courtiers in the palace. Just… decent.
