Chapter 6. Blue-Eyes' Xyz Galaxy-Eyes! The Veterans Lose Their Composure Again!
The duelists of the six Duel Worlds would never have imagined it!
Just the appearance of these two cards alone was enough.
With their sharp minds, they could already picture the combo between these two cards.
As expected, the video creator "The Bride Is Mine" immediately began the focused breakdown of the pair.
"The Bride Is Mine": "For Synchros, these two are about enough.
Open with Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon going first.
When in doubt, tag out into Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon."
"The Bride Is Mine": "Azure-Eyes works nicely to bring out Dragon Spirit of White, too.
After all, it can banish a card."
"The Bride Is Mine": "Of course, relying only on Spirit Dragon's once-per-turn Graveyard effect negate won't cut it for Synchro control."
"The Bride Is Mine": "Let's look at what we can include on the Xyz side."
"The Bride Is Mine": "The 'Galaxy-Eyes' Xyz trio—Rank 8 stacking.
No problem, right?"
Silence.
After the person in the short video finished speaking, the duelists of the six Duel Worlds all fell into silence.
What is this "Galaxy-Eyes trio"?
What is "R8 stacking"?
And what even is "Xyz"?
All these questions left them tongue-tied, not even knowing what to say.
And the video kept playing.
The so-called Xyz Monsters now appeared.
[Card Name: Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon (Rank 8)]
[Attribute: LIGHT]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 4000/3500]
First up was Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon, with its powerful "detach to destroy" effect.
Duel Monsters world.
Seto Kaiba nearly spat blood.
Earlier, a white-framed Blue-Eyes monster popping out was one thing.
Now there was a strange black card.
The key point was that this card clearly wasn't a Blue-Eyes-related card.
Which meant it was very likely a boss from some other archetype.
That only made Seto Kaiba even more lost.
A trump card from another archetype being carried by Blue-Eyes White Dragon?
"What, so what exactly is this?"
"Who am I, where am I?"
"What is that supposed to be?"
Joey Wheeler felt like his worldview wasn't enough anymore.
What are Xyz Materials?
Looking at the Summoning conditions, it seemed to require three Level 8 monsters.
What even goes with what anymore?
…
GX world.
Chancellor Sheppard, Professor Vellian Crowler, and others had already led the students over to the library.
For no other reason than to dig up this so-called Synchro-related knowledge.
Unfortunately, before they found anything on Synchro Summoning, Xyz-related cards and brand-new knowledge appeared.
"Mamma mia!"
"Again!
What even goes with what anymore!"
"What kind of card is this supposed to be?"
Professor Crowler plopped down onto the floor, feeling like everything he'd taught in his life had just turned to smoke.
"This effect is pretty good!"
"Its first effect can turn two Equip Cards into materials!"
"And with the second effect, you can keep meeting the activation condition, right?"
"Since for the second effect, you detach a material to destroy a card!"
After thinking it through, Jesse Anderson continued.
"The Summoning condition is three Level 8 monsters."
"But you can Xyz Summon this by stacking it on top of a 'Galaxy-Eyes' Xyz Monster you control other than 'Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon.'"
"In other words, that alternate Summon method makes it easier, right?"
Jesse Anderson quickly realized the most correct Summoning line.
His words sent Jaden Yuki, Zane Truesdale, Alexis Rhodes, and the others around him into deep thought.
Perhaps Xyz would be easier to grasp than Synchro.
...
Before the many duelists across worlds could mull it over, a second Xyz Monster slated for inclusion flashed onto the screen.
[Card Name: Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon (Rank 8)]
[Attribute: LIGHT]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 3000/2500]
"The Bride Is Mine": "This one only needs two Level 8s to overlay, so it fits Blue-Eyes White Dragon perfectly."
"The Bride Is Mine": "Effect-wise, detach one material to take control of one of the opponent's monsters.
The downside is, afterward, monsters other than this card can't attack."
"The Bride Is Mine": "It's a sturdy board-break, and you can keep stacking."
"The Bride Is Mine": "Let's look at the next one below."
[Card Name: Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon (Rank 9)]
[Attribute: LIGHT]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 3200/2800]
There's more?
It even requires stacking three Level 9 monsters to bring out this monster?
"The Bride Is Mine": "Seeing this, I think everyone gets it."
"The Bride Is Mine": "We first make Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon.
It can steal one."
"The Bride Is Mine": "Then, under Xyz rules, we overlay Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon on top of Cipher Dragon to destroy a card."
"The Bride Is Mine": "Next, we keep going—overlay Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon on top of Full Armor Photon Dragon, detach, and destroy again."
"The Bride Is Mine": "What you see on screen is basic plays.
You all can do this, right?"
As the creator's explanation rolled on line after line, the Rank 8 stacking sequence played accordingly.
The edited footage showed two Blue-Eyes White Dragons overlaying to Xyz Summon Cipher Dragon.
After that, just as the creator said, they overlaid into Full Armor and used the destruction effect.
Finally, they kept going—overlaid Cipher Blade on top of Full Armor and destroyed another card.
Once the whole Xyz flow finished, the duelists of the Duel Monsters, GX, and 5D's worlds were left dumbfounded.
They had originally thought Xyz would be a profound, hard-to-understand, high-level method.
But after watching one full line, they all understood.
Whether it was Seto Kaiba, Yugi Muto, Joey Wheeler, Mai Valentine, and the others, or Jaden Yuki, Zane Truesdale, Alexis Rhodes, Yubel, and the rest, the duelists of the two earliest worlds, after being immersed in the "Galaxy-Eyes trio," completely grasped what Xyz Summoning is.
So it turns out that if the Levels match, you can overlay and make a black card.
And on top of that black card, you can keep meeting conditions and overlay into an even stronger black card.
Damn.
So this is Xyz.
