Chapter 52. Link Support Cards! Dragunity & Striker Dragon!
Even the duelists using these decks don't know these cards exist.
That already proves this higher world has far too many things they don't know.
These things.
Have created a dueling environment far beyond their understanding.
"Alright, Shay Obsidian."
"It seems we were too dismissive before."
"We still need to think more and prepare more."
"This world is insane."
Yuto took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.
Just the short-video deck segments alone were like this.
They didn't dare imagine what bizarre short-video topics would appear later.
…
ZEXAL World.
The Rank 13 "Raidraptor - Rising Rebellion Falcon" left Yuma Tsukumo and Astral—along with other Xyz duelists like Reginald Kastle—completely speechless.
Rank 13?
There's actually a Rank 13 Xyz Monster?
Huh?
This has to be a joke, right?
Yuma rubbed his eyes furiously,
afraid he might have misread something.
Rank 12 had already been the absolute limit in his worldview.
But right now,
another Rank 13 Xyz Monster popped up.
Isn't that just grinding his worldview into the dirt?
"Rank 13 isn't impossible."
"Don't be shocked, Yuma."
"All I know is, in my memory, Rank 13 is real."
"It's just that I don't know what other cards there are."
Astral wore a pensive look.
His words also confirmed Rank 13 truly exists.
"Rank 13? Hahaha!"
"How interesting!"
"Looks like I, the Number-hunter, need to change my prey."
"The Numbers don't seem as strong as this Rank 13."
Kite Tenjo narrowed his eyes at "Raidraptor - Rising Rebellion Falcon."
At the same time, he was thinking about something.
…
Just a few Xyz cards explained, and all six Duel Worlds were already in an uproar.
And this was only the beginning.
Soon, the voice of the video creator Red-Dad yyds rang out again.
Red-Dad yyds: "You think that's all? No, no."
Red-Dad yyds: "Actually, the non-archetype tech matters far more than the in-archetype stuff."
Red-Dad yyds: "For example, with Links, you basically use other archetypes' cards to extend."
"For instance, this card."
"It uses a Link Monster from the Dragunity engine."
"The card name is 'Dragunity Knight - Romulus.'"
[Card Name: Dragunity Knight - Romulus (Link-2)]
[Attribute: WIND]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK: 1200]
[Link Arrows: Bottom-Left, Bottom-Right]
[Materials: 2 Dragon and/or Winged Beast monsters, except Tokens]
[This card's (1) and (2) effects can each be used once per turn.]
[(1): If this card is Link Summoned: You can add 1 "Dragunity" Spell/Trap or 1 "Dragon Ravine" from your Deck to your hand.]
[(2): If a Dragon monster is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck to a zone this card points to (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon 1 Dragon or Winged Beast monster from your hand in Defense Position, but negate its effects, also it cannot be used as Link Material this turn.]
Dragunity?
What kind of engine is that now?
Red-Eyes's off-archetype tech really is all over the place.
First there was Raidraptor.
Now there's Dragunity.
And after reading the effects,
they more or less understood this card's main purpose.
It has a strong effect that searches the Field Spell "Dragon Ravine."
In other words,
its role in a Red-Eyes deck might simply be "search."
Red-Dad yyds: "I think everyone gets it after seeing this one."
Red-Dad yyds: "You run it basically to greedily search Dragon Ravine."
"Of course, in Dragunity itself, this card is a key piece."
"So it's not hard to see."
"Some things are more fun when used as a small splash engine."
"This two-card combo is exactly the kind of small package you can slot in."
"So, besides this one, what else is there?"
"Here we bring in another Link-1 monster."
"'Striker Dragon'!"
[Card Name: Striker Dragon (Link-1)]
[Attribute: DARK]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK: 1000]
[Link Arrow: Left]
[Materials: 1 Level 4 or lower Dragon monster]
[This card's (1) and (2) effects can each be used once per turn.]
[(1): If this card is Link Summoned: You can add 1 "Boot Sector Launch" from your Deck to your hand.]
[(2): You can target 1 face-up monster you control and 1 "Rokket" monster in your GY; destroy that monster on the field, and if you do, add that other monster from the GY to your hand.]
After seeing this Link-1 monster,
some veteran duelists were confused again.
Its effects still don't have anything that obviously works with Red-Eyes.
One effect searches "Boot Sector Launch."
The other effect interacts with "Rokket."
And in the entire deck build,
they were sure they hadn't seen any "Boot Sector Launch" or any Rokkets.
That made it even harder to figure out.
Running these two Links—
can they really provide a massive boost to Red-Eyes?
Maybe the presenter got it wrong?
…
VRAINS World.
After seeing this card,
Varis, the Rokket user, fell into thought.
He originally figured adding "Striker Dragon" to Red-Eyes had to have a specific purpose.
But now it seemed it might not be doing very much at all.
What was going on?
"Strange—these two Link inclusions only make it harder to read."
"If we're talking about the earlier Raidraptors,
I could still understand that."
"After all, Red-Eyes can make Rank 7 Xyz to get into Raidraptor."
"Then, when the board gets destroyed, you can bring out the Rank 13 ace."
"The Dragunity one I can also get—searching a Field Spell."
"But this 'Striker Dragon' is…?"
Even the always-calm, sharp Yusaku Fujiki frowned at this point.
With the earlier engines,
he could at least see the connections.
Or know the combo.
But once it came to these Link cards,
the more he looked, the more abstract it felt.
"Maybe they were just slotted in for fun."
"After all, my Rokkets always draw plenty of fans."
Varis gave a cold chuckle and chalked the inclusion of "Striker Dragon" up to card preference.
Otherwise, he really didn't know what the purpose of running "Striker Dragon" was.
