The queen sat down and said
" Chloe eat something, you shouldn't starve yourself "
Chloe glanced at her coldly and said with tears swirling in her eyes
" I heard everything. Are you even our mother. Abigail is in who knows where and here you all are planning for the next queen. Does her life even matters "
Chloe felt like she was the only one fighting for Abigail's life and the feeling wasn't good.
The queen's expression changed and she frowned, then she said
" Watch your tongue Chloe. You can't judge just because you heard some few words. I am a mother and this situation has really affected me. Abi is my daughter, my first born and you think I'm cool with this..."
Chloe sneered interrupting her mom
" huh, mother, were you really there for us? Are you sure you gave us all the love we needed when we were still kids? We're you there when we spoke our first words. Were you there when we begun to walk. I wonder what kind of mother you are.... "
The queen's eyes were filled with several emotions anger, regret and even frustration. She almost yelled at her daughter
" Enough!.. "
Then she took in a deep breath before she said slowly as if she was trying to persuade her
" Chloe dear, I am your mother but I am not only a mother, I am also a queen. I don't have to only satisfy your needs, I have the kingdom to also cater for. Indeed I have not been a good mother but that doesn't mean I do not love my children, I love you all equally and your pain is also mine. Trust me on this"
Chloe looked at her not willing to yield and scoffed
" I almost forgot that my humble highness. You are also the queen. What you are trying to imply is the kingdom is much more important than your own children. I understand the kingdom comes first "
The queen stared at her daughter in shock, what has suddenly come over her daughter that she is been hard to talk to. She had indeed done so many mistakes in her life that she regretted dearly. She had neglected her children and missed several essential occasions in thier life. But what else could she do, the pressure from the council was too high and strong.
" Chloe child, I may not have been a good mother but I truly love you all. Trust me on that. But we can't do anything Chloe. We can only wait till next year for the auspicious time and go to the human world to try our luck. But for now, the kingdom needs a queen, you know perfectly well that a new queen is supposed to be selected this year. We can't stop that. Let me ask you, would you wanna participate in the competition or you would let it go "
Chloe shoke her head vigorously and said
" of course not I do not want to be binded down by the law forever "
The queen sighed helplessly and said
" Fine but at least please eat your food. Abi wouldn't want to see you in this state "
Chloe seemed to not listen to her. She remembered something and asked
" Oh right, least I forget, were you with Abigail before you returned "
Chloe nodded and said
" Yes I found her and forcefully moved to her place "
The queen moved to her next question
" Tell me did you see anything unusual with her before you were brought home "
Chloe thought for sometime and shoke her head
" No, she was perfectly fine. Nothing was odd about her. The only difference was she fell for a human guy and had trouble with the thought of giving him up "
The queen was shocked that she exclaimed
" She fell for a human, what the he'll was she thinking about "
Chloe said
" Hey mom calm down, she did nothing with him. She even stayed away from him "
The queen was relieved
" Well that is good. She can't fall for any human guy. But aside from that, did she eat anything from outside or any drink of that sort "
Chloe was in deep thought, she said after sometime
" no....., the only thing she ate from outside was the "Dinkin" prepared by the elders which was brought to us by Erica. But with that one, we both drunk it "
The queen thought for sometime and said
" Alright, I'm going eat the food please "
Saying that, she stood up and went. Chloe hugged her pillow and slept not caring about the food. She really loved Abigail and everyone in the kingdom knew about it. When they were young, thier mother was always busy so it was Abigail who mostly took care of them. But Erica was always cold to Abigail and also didn't have time for them. She was mostly training nonstop and therefore Chloe was stuck and glued to her older sister. Literally, they were inseparable. Now the person she had considered to be her everything was gone and she seemed to be the only one who cared. It pained her very much.
Meanwhile,the queen walked away with a heavy heart. Her mind was in turmoil. What is the meaning of all of this. "Dinkin" ,she remember very well that there was no Dinkin sent to them by the elders. So why would Erica send the drink to them. How did she get it in the fist place. She remembered something and her expression turned grim. Instead of walking to Erica's room like she intended to do, she rather went to her own room. In there she saw her husband. She went to him and before he could ask about what was going on, she beat him to it. She said coldly
" Tell me the damn truth Tyler, di you have anything to do with Abigail's disappearance?
The king looked at her in a bit of shock before saying in a mocking voice
" Wow, Juliana, even after our years of marriage, you still do not trust me "
The queen said
" Why should I, if not you who would benefit the most from Abigail's death "
The king retorted
" Yeah I might not truly love Abigail but nevertheless, she is still my niece. She I still my family so why would I wanna kill my niece? I'm not that heartless you know. And it really pains me to find out that you still do not believe me "
The queen was stunned for a bit, had she made the wrong judgement? But if not her husband, who would do that? Tyler is tye only person she knew who would wish Abigail was dead because she was not his daughter. She gave Tyler a cold face and said
" What you said better be true because if I find out tat you were lying to me,..... oooo, you would regret it "
With that she went. King Tyler stood there for a bit before he smirked devilishly. Then he said to himself
" Is not my fault Juliana, but that kid needs to really die, she is a treat to the throne for my daughter. Hahaha "
