The thought slipped through Alex's mind as a slow, satisfied smirk curved his lips. He lingered there for a moment longer before finally straightening.
"Uh… I should let you be now," Alex said at last, his voice steady as he rose to his feet. "Since you can manage your bath on your own, I'll go take mine. Let's meet at the dining just to talk. You can tell the servants to bring the breakfast I prepared along with you."
"Yeah, go," Gabe replied quietly, his tone casual but his expression anything but. "I'll be there soon."
Alex nodded, acknowledging him, then turned and walked out of the room. He shut the door carefully behind him, leaving Gabe alone in the silence and with far too many thoughts to keep himself company.
The moment Alex stepped into the hallway, he slowed to a halt.
