Immediately after the group finished breakfast, they set out from the vacation house.

Alex and Gabe sat in the back seat of the first car, a chauffeur driving them. Fred and Damien occupied the second, while Romeo and Lucas took the third. The engines roared to life almost in unison, as the vehicles pulled out of the compound.
Silence filled the back seat of Alex's car.
Gabe kept his gaze fixed outside the tinted window, watching trees blur past. Inwardly, he prayed...
Please don't ask anything. Not now. Not until we reach wherever we're going.
But he should have known better.
"Did you really have to lie?" Alex finally asked, his voice cutting through the silence. The question came after what felt like forever, though in reality, only a few minutes had passed.
