Chapter 9 - Nefarious Plan

Axl confirmed as they all stared at the young man before them.

He did not seem at all normal in the sense that he was half-naked.

His upper body was bare, revealing a slim yet incredibly athletic frame, every muscle of his torso sharply defined and clearly visible.

And his handsome, angular face that could only belong to those pompous Mech Models was covered in dirt, making him look like some barbarian.

And what's more, across his back, the tip of a spear could be seen, just over his shoulder.

"You know, in some way, I've always found you cleaners weird," Everlean said, slipping off the flying pod.

"Can't put a finger on it, but your eyes… they just look dead, one way or another, like they were hiding some dark truth," Everlearn called out, looking at all four men.

"And seems like I wasn't wrong."

"Mechara Organization, one of the three most beloved Mech organizations in Eloscious City, disposing of corpses in a forest," Everlearn announced as the men's eyes furrowed.

Those were words that could never be allowed to spread, or Eloscious City would be thrown into chaos.

"Even getting cleaners who will do it willingly. Tsk, talk of hypocrisy,"

"This is an off-limits area allowed only to those with special permits."

"How did you get here? And… why here?" Rollo asked, brows furrowing.

This was an independent off-limits zone, but what was truly mind-numbing was the size, over a hundred kilometers in both width and length.

Running into someone here?

Maybe he'd fallen off a pod and crashed by accident.

But to meet someone exactly at their hidden disposal site!?

That was no coincidence.

"There's no need for dumb questions," Wyatt said, his helmet dropping from his hands along with his bag.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out an object.

A gun, sleek and long, but it was no ordinary gun, but an energy ball projector, type Y to be exact.

"This place is a Grade Zero off-limits area. Punishment for trespassing is death."

"Even if he got back to the organization, he'd still end up dead anyway," Wyatt explained to his colleagues.

"Besides, if we report back to the Organization with him being here, and we're the only ones who come and go… they might think him being here was due to a slip-up of ours."

"Who knows what punishment we'd be getting for that?"

"So, I say we kill him, toss his corpse in the pit, and forget we ever saw him."

Wyatt's voice was cold, his gun pointed straight at Everlearn.

Rollo and Axl also dropped their bags, pulling out their energy pistols.

The only one who didn't react was Oran, who took slow steps backward instead.

"You three should be enough. I'mma take a step back," he said, causing the rest to pause and glance back at him.

"You really tryna dip, old man?" Axl asked.

Oran chuckled nervously.

"Why would four grown-ass men need to get rid of one kid? Have some shame, you dicks."

He tried to sound firm, but the others just scoffed.

But when they turned back towards Everlearn...he was gone.

"Did he run a..."

SLASH!

SPLATTER!

Those words had not been completed when two severed hands, their fingers gripping onto energy guns, spun into the air.

Wyatt rolled across the ground, eyes widening when he looked at his wrist and saw the deep mark cut into his wrist.

If not for his quick reflex, his hands would have been cleaved clean off.

"Ahhh… ahhh—!"

Gasps of pain echoed as two other men collapsed onto their knees, eyes wide in disbelief.

"AHHH__"

A shrill scream like a pig being slaughtered echoed out, but it was abruptly cut off when a foot slammed onto Axel's face, sending him tumbling away into the pit behind.

Everlearn turned to the other kneeling man, who looked up at him, mouth agape.

"What? You think there was supposed to be a countdown or something?"

Everlearn snorted before kicking him in the face and sending him rolling into the pit too.

"DIIIIIIIEEEEEE!"

THROOM!

THROOM!

THROOM!

The scream echoed from behind Everlearn's ears, followed by the rapid blasts of energy shots.

They came frighteningly fast, appearing right before him in less than three seconds.

One tore into his head, another through his chest, and another hit his shoulder,

But when they landed, they did nothing but scatter Everlearn's image into fading wisps.

"An afterimage!?" It occurred to Wyatt, but his eyes widened in horror in the next moment.

While Everlearn was quick to dodge, one person wasn't.

Oran, the old man who had backed away from the fights.

His eyes widened in horror when he watched the dodged energy shots heading straight for him after missing Everlearn.

The thought of dodging settled in his head, but,

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIP

An energy ball tore straight through his neck, blasting open a smooth, round hole that revealed the other side.

One missed him, while the other slammed into his shoulder.

The force of it pushed him back, his hand grabbing onto his throat as he looked at Wyatt in disbelief.

One more last step, and he fell into the pit behind, unable to muster a single scream before he was swallowed by the darkness.

One thing was sure:

With such a hole in his neck, he was deader than dead!

Wyatt's eyes widened in disbelief, his raised hand holding onto the energy gun shaking uncontrollably.

"What… what did I just do?"
