HARPER
"He's so fine, Harper," Clara squeaked, peeking at Julian from the hallway, only her head visible around the corner.
"Is he?" I asked with a knowing smile, gripping her hand and tugging her away from her hiding spot just as Julian glanced in our direction.
Clara resisted, but I managed to pull her back anyway.
"You get the best men, seriously," she complained as she opened the door to her room. "I am so jealous of you."
Jealous? I couldn't even bring myself to be jealous of me. Having someone like Dominic as an ex was trouble enough. It didn't matter how good a man looked. If he couldn't take the hint that things were over, he quickly became a problem.
Clara flicked on the light switch even though the room was already bright from the curtains being drawn open.
I smiled as I took in the space.
This was another apartment. Bigger. Better. Yet it still carried the same cozy feeling. It still smelled like home. Like Clara.
