Chapter 53 - A true Paragon of Purity!

Arthur spun around, summoning Aether on his knee, which formed into a jagged spike. He smashed a knee into and through a nightmare creature, the kill confirmation ignored.

He was in another gate outbreak, it was a corrupted rank.

Arthur spun around again, the Dawn's ballad flashing with brilliant violet light. He cut down another creature, then another, and another one, and he just continued.

Others parted ways, leaving a path for Arthur to dominate.

He made his way throughout the battlefield, ignoring all the roars, screeches, and screams. All that mattered was to kill these creatures, before they killed innocents.

And so he tore through them, merciless, unafraid, unaffected. Injuries? Covered by the armor. Strength? Undeniable. Will? Absolute. He believed in his path, and so he followed it; he did not care for such measly things as injuries. All that mattered was that he was alive and doing what the world needed. A helping hand. And if that had a blade in it? Even better. This was the will of a Paragon, a Paragon of Purity. Is his aspect meant to destroy all living things?

He will use it to protect all living things! Is his flaw meant to hurt everything and everyone? He already broke the law of imperfection! How can something broken chain him? It cannot! This is the will of a king. A king who will do anything to protect the people, because what is a king without his people? Such a king is not a king, and not suited to be one.

The sovereigns, the so-called kings of the world, will oppose him? He will break them. Because they are not kings. They are wretches. They are like the Ashuras from his second nightmare. They are strong people playing at being gods, they understood nothing, they were nothing.

Arthur sliced through another creature, looking around, Arthur realized that it was the guardian. A corrupted devil if the spell wasn't lying. And he had just killed it. Effortlessly.

He was chanting his true name in his mind throughout the entire fight. Since it was the 5th gate he was at today, his flaw started acting up.

He also started ranting in his mind, since apparently, it calmed the flaw. Arthur turned around only to be greeted by stares. And finally, Arthur realized, that he was chanting his name, his true name. Which was not released to the public by his own demand.

Arthur vanished, godstep taking him home.

Regis immediately manifested into a physical form.

His laughter echoed throughout the house.

"'I am Paragon of Purity!'"

"'I am Paragon of Purity!'"

"'I am Paragon of Purity!'"

Regis barked another laugh, his form doubling over, rolling across the floor.

"Dude," He gasped letting out another bout of laughter.

"You actually lost it today!"

He started laughing again.

Arthur just stared at Regis, his face indifferent.

Then he too started to chuckle, and then they laughed.

This week has been stressful for Arthur.

He was barely given enough time for himself, called upon in every gate crisis, no matter the rank. He had been running himself ragged, and finally, he started losing grip.

His flaw barely got time to wear off before the next day; sometimes, it didn't even wear off in time.

And so, Arthur found out that by chanting his true name, he could keep a level of control, apparently by believing in his existence. He also summarized that it should work on stuff like the mist in Hollow Mountains, but that wouldn't be a problem either way, due to his destruction armor.

Arthur turned on the news, and sure enough, he was being broadcast to the whole world to see.

Slaying monsters left and right, his face bloodied and crazed. Him shouting his true name over and over again.

Arthur slumped into his sofa.

"God, I really do look insane", Arthur let out a pitiful groan.

Which only caused Regis to start laughing again.

Arthur summoned his runes, only for his sadness to vanish.

Destruction fragments: [2980/3000].

Arthur let out a breath of relief, he had nearly formed a core on the battlefield, which would have probably led to his death.

Or he would have needed to let out Regis, which was a no-go.

Since he was a trump card. Arthur and Regis could perhaps face and take down a corrupted Tyrant together, perhaps a terror even. But it was all speculation for now, since such a being has not yet appeared.

But Arthur knew he would at least face a few in Antarctica, and then the world would truly recognize him.

More and more people thought he was a Saint already.

What would happen when Arthur became a devil? When did he reveal Regis? The sovereigns might actually start targeting him. And while he was powerful, he was nowhere near their level. At least not yet.

Because Regis had revealed something to him, to be precise what he would gain from clearing the 3rd nightmare, or one of his legacy relics.

Fate, the same thing that Grey talked about before the nightmare ended. That would be his validation of power.

With it, nothing will be able to stand against him.

And so, he will finally help this world heal.

Such a naive and hopeless goal.

Only a true Paragon of Purity could even dream of such a thing in this wretched world.

[A/N: First of all, fuck y'all! Second of all, I want to fucking die. Third, this is what it means to be a Paragon of Purity.

So all of you who said that it doesn't match his aspect.

No shit!]
