But it was a weird question, was it not?
He stopped responding to Olisa's questions, torn between these two choices.
Then, before he could stop himself, the words slipped out.
"If you ever had the option to be with Olaedo… would you take it?"
The question dropped like a bomb.
Olisa went quiet.
For a moment, he said nothing.
Chibuzor's heart sank.
"What are you talking about?" Olisa finally asked.
"Answer the question," Chibuzor insisted.
And suddenly, something clicked.
Why was he hesitating?
If such a thing could never happen, he would have said no immediately. So why the pause? Why was he trying to dodge it?
"Answer the question," Chibuzor repeated, his voice louder now, sharper.
"No."
Olisa cut in firmly.
"I would not take it."
"Olaedo is married to you. Not me. Both of you are going to stay together and grow old. Nobody else is marrying her, especially not me. That's my answer," Olisa said firmly.
