Chapter 47 - The broken moment

I released a long, steady breath as I tucked the blanket around Damien and gently kissed his forehead before stepping out of his room.

Draven walked beside me, quiet but alert. "The attack tonight wasn't random. Someone planned it," He said as we moved toward the doorway. "I'm relieved everyone made it out safely."

"Absolutely," I replied, sharing the same relief. "I should head back to my room," I added once the door closed. I began walking away, but Draven caught my hand, stopping me. His touch made me pause in confusion. "What's going on?" I asked, turning back to him.

He didn't respond at first. Instead, his eyes drifted to my lips and stayed there in a way that made my breath hitch. His stare lingered long enough that I lowered my gaze, unsure what he wanted to do.

"Girl, this man is interested in you," Ruka's voice chimed in my head. "Just embrace your feelings and—"

"Stop letting your imagination run wild," I snapped at her, irritation flashing.
