The next day, Wei An seemed to have fallen asleep. The morning sun rays shone through the window, making him wake up from his short slumber.
Haa...What day is it?
Wei An stayed in bed for a while; he stared at the sunlight that shone through the windows before deciding to get up. Finally fully awake, he picks up a book about the academy he had to attend. He sat down in a chair near his bed, flipping through the pages of the book. It was still quite early, and he somehow did not feel tired even though he lacked sleep.
Time had passed, and Wei An heard a knock on the door; he had just finished reading the book, still sitting on the same spot. Alfred walked in with his daily breakfast and served it to him. He then woke up the fox and helped Wei An with his daily routine.
The following days continued on like a cycle; Wei An ate, slept, bathed, studied, and trained both his magic and swordsmanship every day. Time flew by, and soon enough the awaiting day arrived when he had to go to the academy.
I really have to do this... Ah, at least I'll be able to learn more about this world.
The carriage was prepared to leave, as well as the guards that were assigned to escort him to the academy. Wei An had his things packed and ready; he went inside the carriage and sat down. The fox had also come with him; he did not know if it was allowed, but it was worth trying to bring.
"Ah, Alfred, you'll be joining me in the academy, right?"
"Yes, young master."
"I assumed that bringing an attendant wasn't allowed."
"The academy of magic is a prestigious university, sir; it is home to many nobles as well as commoners. Nobles are allowed one or two attendants."
"I see. Then, I'll be in your care."
"Of course, young master."

After a few hours, Wei An had fallen asleep during the carriage ride. Just then, the carriage abruptly stopped, startling Wei An awake. Still quite drowsy, he asked why the carriage had stopped.
"Alfred, what happened?"
"There seems to be a bit of trouble, sir; no need to worry. The guards will take care of it, young master."
Wei An looked out of the carriage window and saw a group of bandits blocking the path. It looked like there were about 30 bandits blocking the way.
"Hm. Can't they see the Marion crest on the carriage? What a bunch of fools."
Alfred nodded, a small smile crept into his face, amused by his young master's statement. The guards took care of the bandits that were blocking the path; minutes later the captain of the guards knocked on Wei An's carriage.
"Young master, the path is clear now. We are going to resume our travels as soon as things are cleaned."
"Alright."
After the scene was cleared up, the ride went on smoothly. A few hours passed, and it was almost dawn. They had stopped in a near by town to stay for the night. They went to an inn to get some sleep for the night. The next day, they resumed their travels, the ride was mostly peaceful and there wasn't any troubles passing through towns.

The following days later they arrived at the capital of Stalia; the area looked clean, and not many were walking around, so it was quiet. Wei An got off the carriage with Alfred, who was holding the fox for Wei An. Two if Wei An's personal guards followed as Wei An began to look through the capital. He had told Alfred earlier that he wanted to see the place before he went to the academy.
While looking around, it seemed like the capital wasn't that magnificent; in fact, the architecture looked plain compared to the Marion duchy, though that was just Wei An's opinion. A while later, Wei An had finished exploring the capital; he looked unimpressed but still proceeded as normal.
After a while, Wei An and Alfred finally proceeded to the magic academy. The structure was not like the capital; the structures were extravagant, truly one of a kind.
It seems like this is where the funding for the capital went. What a waste.
Wei An proceeded to go inside the academy, and others followed behind. He then proceeded to sit in a nearby lounge with the fox while Alfred took care of the registry. Unexpectedly, most people, although bewildered that Wei An brought in a fox, minded their own business. It looked as if they did not care about the fox but him instead.
'Did you hear? He's the firstbornof the Marion duchy; it must be nice to be born with a silver spoon.'
'Ah, so he's the son of Duke Marion. I guess I have to show my greetings...'
'I wonder if he's nice? '
People whispered more about him than the fox; whether they were commoners or nobles, it seemed that the spotlight was directed at Wei An.
What's with these people? I seem to be the target of their gossip.
Wei An just kept his mouth shut as he waited for Alfred to finish with the registration. He paid no mind to the whispers and chose to ignore them. After a few minutes Alfred made his way to Wei An, grabbing the things Wei An had packed.
'Ah, typical nobles with their butlers and privilege.'
"Hey, don't say that. Don't you know that he's from the Marion duchy? '
'Wait, what's his name again? '
'Isn't he rumored to have magic? I heard the principal made an exception for him even though he was late for the entrance exam.
'Money can do anything, you know.'
Whispers continued as Wei An passed by; Wei An's expression was still stoic as ever, paying no mind to whatever the people around then said. Alfred, on the other hand, politely smiled but conveyed a small warning for those who whispered wrongful things about his young master. Wei An saw through Alfred's gaze but said nothing.
What a scary old man.
