Ninjutsu like the Mayfly Technique only feel more miraculous the more you use them.
Their practicality exceeds conventional limits—no hand seals required for activation, extremely low chakra consumption during use, and so forth. If you had to ask about drawbacks, this ninjutsu's speed during cross-medium movement isn't particularly fast.
Just considering the activation process alone, compared to spatial movement abilities like Uchiha Obito's, it's truly far inferior.
For instance, when Yūshin uses the Mayfly Technique—whether diving headfirst into trees or earth, or emerging from trees or earth—both speed and time consumption are less than ideal.
If he truly encountered a shinobi with swift taijutsu, this "brief process" would undoubtedly be filled with lethality.
Of course, these minor flaws fall completely within acceptable ranges. Every ninjutsu has imperfect aspects; Yūshin simply needs greater caution when using the Mayfly Technique.
Two days later, Yūshin returned to that primitive forest with post-"harvest" good spirits. But when he approached near the camp, he immediately detected abnormalities.
Where were the people responsible for camp vigilance? By logic, they should have discovered him already.
Realizing something was amiss, Yūshin immediately accelerated. When he reached heights sufficient to overlook the camp, he discovered the camp had fallen into a tense standoff situation.
Could Tsugawa Clan shinobi have found them? No, the situation hadn't deteriorated to that degree.
Yūshin's clansmen had completely surrounded an unfamiliar enemy in the center. Currently both sides were in confrontation phase, not yet truly fighting.
This was truly fortunate within misfortune. Good thing Yūshin returned before battle began, otherwise... it wasn't self-deprecation—he had great faith in his clansmen's abilities.
The kind of abilities that couldn't defeat anyone.
The surrounded enemy appeared very composed, information emanating from him showing more wariness than hostility. This indicated the other party hadn't come for the former "Hagūgen," quite possibly just mistakenly entering here.
Really unexpected—such an advantageous hiding place was discovered so quickly.
When Yūshin turned his gaze to the intruder's face with regretful feelings, he couldn't help forcefully blinking his eyes, his facial expression instantly becoming strange.
The other party's appearance and clothing were truly distinctive.
This intruder's age was similar to Yūshin's—probably only fourteen or fifteen years old. He used a large tachi as weapon, had pure white hair, wore deep blue half-body metal armor...
If these characteristics weren't obvious enough, then his half-open facial protector and the clan emblem on the protector sufficiently indicated his identity completely. Very distinctive.
This was truly a "big shot"—moreover, an underage version of a big shot.
"Clan... Captain."
"Captain, you've returned."
Everyone breathed sighs of relief after seeing his return, as if suddenly finding their backbone.
Yūshin leaped down from the heights, landing at the encirclement's periphery, then passed through everyone's sides, step by step approaching the intruder... The reason for not jumping directly in front of the other party was to avoid stimulating him.
"Confirmed, it's him."
Yūshin silently thought. After close-distance identification of the intruder, he was one hundred percent certain of the other party's identity... Tobirama Senju of the Senju Clan, future Second Hokage.
After coming to this world for over a year, Yūshin finally clarified the approximate era of his current situation.
These past days—first encountering Sarutobi, then encountering Senju—gave him a feeling that the gears of the era were accelerating their rotation.
Coming before the juvenile miniature version of Tobirama Senju, Yūshin secretly heightened vigilance. After all, the person before him was renowned for being sinister, despicable, and stopping at nothing to achieve goals.
"Captain..."
Ryūnosuke Hayasaka beside him gently shook his head toward Yūshin—this was reminding him not to act rashly.
It wasn't that Ryūnosuke felt their side lacked winning chances. In fact, after witnessing Yūshin's assassination abilities, he had somewhat blind trust in such abilities.
Precisely because Ryūnosuke was ignorant enough to believe Yūshin could easily resolve the other party, he worried Yūshin would act regardless of consequences.
The symbol on the intruder's protector was recognized by all. If they truly attacked this person, Ryūnosuke worried about Senju Clan retaliation.
The gap in scale and strength was too great. When facing the Senju Clan, Ryūnosuke had no thoughts of actively attacking.
Couldn't provoke them, absolutely couldn't provoke them.
When facing Tsugawa, they could still fight while retreating. But if facing Senju? They weren't even operating on the same level.
Yūshin gently nodded toward Ryūnosuke, indicating he understood his meaning and wouldn't act carelessly.
Compared to being frightened by the Senju Clan's reputation, Yūshin actually cared more about Hashirama Senju's reputation. Judging by Tobirama Senju's current age, Hashirama Senju very likely had entered his twenties' strength maturity period.
Although this so-called maturity was utterly insignificant compared to the "God of Shinobi's" peak, if truly confronting him, was there difference between being killed by Deep Forest Emergence and being killed by True Several Thousand Hands?
Both were instantaneous matters—probably would die without any pain.
Therefore, Yūshin wasn't incapable of launching righteous ambush against Tobirama Senju, but rather couldn't do it... In any case, first he needed to clarify the other party's purpose for appearing here.
Tobirama Senju couldn't possibly have come to exterminate them. By intuition, Yūshin felt there were no irreconcilable contradictions between both sides—previously they had no intersection whatsoever.
Tobirama Senju observed Yūshin, discovering this person's simple clothing—just a sack worn with rope tied in the middle, unkempt hair, only straw sandals on feet, skin bearing unhealthy pallor...
This was a wandering shinobi camp, and among wandering shinobi they counted as the most miserable category.
"Are you the decision-maker here? I have no intention of being your enemy, provided you hand over the person you're hiding." Tobirama Senju directly stated his demand.
Somewhat arrogant, but not severe. He ultimately explained his lack of intention to deal with these pitiful wandering shinobi.
Tobirama Senju had been a sinister person since childhood and would only become more sinister in the future, but he wasn't a kill-on-sight murderer.
His sinister nature often manifested in stopping at nothing to achieve objectives, while the "objectives" he pursued couldn't be described as evil—especially considering current era background.
Overall, as the surrounded party, Tobirama Senju believed he held initiative, therefore could openly make demands... He didn't take the people here seriously.
Looking for someone?
Yūshin turned to look at Ryūnosuke, who immediately shook his head. Very obviously, the camp side hadn't hidden anyone at all. The other party clearly misunderstood something.
"Ahem, I think you'd better handle your injuries first. You're about to lose too much blood..."
