Chapter 3 - 2nd Plate

It took a little while, but it seems the situation was able to be cleared and the confusion excercised( heh). Shinji showed them the outside of his restaraunt, and the scenery was undead unfamiliar to the devils. "This really ain't Kuoh" said Rias, who could feel a noticeable lightness in the air, the lack of mana and ether.

"The air seems suspiciously light, as if its missing something crucial to it" said Koneko, her species more attuned to the natural energies of the world, and noticed the absence as well, except she could tell it was the energy that was missing more than rias could.

Rias herself than opened the door, focusing on her territory of Kuoh and when Shinji stuck his head through, he felt a weight hit upon him and his body overwhelmed. The ether in the air was thick, and mystery seemed to flow unabated, as if the age of gods didn't end and the steps of divinity still touched up on the spirit of Gaia.

"Whats wrong?!" asked Sakura in concern, uncharateristic emotion filling her face. Koneko sensed that the energy which seemed present in the air, compared to the lack of it in Fuyuki, she could tell it was overwhelming his body despite the immense amount of energy she could tell should have permeated his mortal body.

Sakura dragged the smacked down body of Shinji back inside and he seemed to recover in some time. "Man, the ether there was thick" said Shinji, noticing the element that was present, the power of Ether which was described in the Matou household books.

It was common knowledge the ether in the air gradually disappeared after the age of gods, so it perplexed Shinji that he felt the element, the power of true ether in Kuoh town. "Hey, Rias was it?" asked Shinji as the girl in question nodded.

"Is there gods perhaps that live in your world?" asked Shinji as Rias nodded, and both Shinji and Sakura widened their eyes in surprise. "So that's why.... the reason mystery seemed to permeate the air" he muttered as Rias raised her eyebrow in question.

"Your magicians yes? Wouldn't you know of the existence of Divinity?" asked Rias. "Yes we do, but the gods should no longer exist after the advent of Anno Domini(AD). They should have retreated to the reverse side of the world" said Shinji, and it was the turn for the occult research club to be surprised.

The existence and presence of the gods was common talk to them, especially since their kind was weak to holy and divine presence, especially that of christain mysticism and theology. The fact there was a world where the presence of the gods was not visible to them was odd and a little frightening.

"Scary" said Akeno with a little chuckle and the others could only laugh along weakly with her. Both sides seemed to be in a state of shock, but it seemed Rias, who had intelligence in her, sensed a deal that could have been made.

"Shinji, do you believe in Devils?" asked Rias while Shinji looked at her strangely. "Like the beings from the Bible?" asked Shinji as Rias nodded, and from her waist came a pair of wings which were not physical, Shinji could tell them that much. He deduced they must have been more conceptual in nature, and his scholar and Archmage powers were in overdrive in analysing their capabilities, but he knew he was missing a crucial element of their being to utilize such a spell.

"Is this a deal with a devil?" Shinji chuckled as the joke slipped from his lips. He was remembering a song from his past life about a fiddler and the devil, the devil went down to georgia he though but couldn't remember exactly. Rias nodded as she produced a slip of paper and handed it to Shinji.

"Mayhaps" said Rias with a sly smile and the rest of the club members revealed their wings, and Shinji was analyzing everything, even if he couldnt use it, yet. "What are you proposing?" asked Shinji, as he knew a deal was both two sided and a devil especially, you would need the details to be iron clad to for deals like this, especially between mages.

"We both have knowledge the other may want, resources and such. I propose a mutual trade between ourselves. Your food especially seemed to have supernatural effects and such we wouldn't want to miss out on potential new resources" said Rias and Shinji nodded aptly.

"I see where your getting at, and I am willing to accept a trade of resources and such that are rare in our world, materials for magecraft and rituals and such. knowledge is appreciated, but I would need something upfront to seal the deal" said Shinji and Rias nodded in common understanding.

"What will it be? We usually calculate these things with a device, but this is all on us if you use the circle" said Rias and the next thing Shinji said put them through for a loop. "I want pieces of your guys hair, a couple strands each will do" said Shinji and Rias seemed to blink slowly at the thought.

"What for?" asked Rias as Shinji explained a little fragment of his ability. "I can adapt to new energies and systems of power real easily, and I want the strands so I can gain the energies you guys produce for myself" said Shinji calmly with a smile on his face. He wouldn't use them right now, but he will use them later for expiramentation later.

Rias laughed at the absurdity of the situation, but it did seemed indicative of mad scientists, or people with a fetish, but she found it laughable. She didn't know about the reactor, and how the energy he had grew continously, but that little tidbit wouldn't hurt for her to miss.

Shinji flowed magic through the circle to seal the deal as a pact was formed, making a connection between the two. After the deal was sealed, Rias paid for the meal and took some free food to go as collateral for her part as she exited the restaraunt.

"President, was that a good choice?" asked Rias queen, and Rias nodded. "Akeno, theres a whole other world out there, resources and knowledge we could use to benefit ourselves" said Rias as she was thinking on how to inform the relevant parties, sona and her brother about the events as she held the sack of food in her hands. "Plus, this magical desert he gave us doesn't hurt either."
