Chapter 6: the pursuit of truth is not an easy thing
Here comes the problem. If that person is doing this to save another person then do you still call him a murderer and punish him according to law. You can call it self defense but it is not important in the court.
What the court and people say is that he is a murderer even if he killed someone to save another. In this kind of situation what would you choose if you can solve the case? Will you bring out the murderer just for the truth or let the justice prevail.
Think of the consequences carefully before answering my question.
In the later case the person that killed to save another person would not be prosecuted. The people that don't care about the complete truth would not blame him stupidly and he might even save others because of the motivation of doing good deeds which is justice.
The former case is where the truth is out and he was severely condemned by all. Those people he saved might not look at him with good face because he is a murderer. The media and public can say anything and he might lose his reputation.
Once that happens he would be pushed to a dead end and finally he might turn against the society to become anti social element or commit suicide ending his miserable life. This is the result of bringing out the truth. Now tell me if you are in the situation what would you do?"
Yuuki Rito said with a smile and Ran beside him looked at Shinichi for what choice he would make. After all Yuuki Rito told the consequences that are very reasonable to the world view that she has on this world and her father's rambling.
Shinichi was confused and unable to answer this question. After all he knows what Yuuki Rito said is true but he is just a person in the rebellious age with the thought of showing off and gaining public recognition.
"No matter what truth should come out. The person can reform and the public would understand. If not he might become addicted to killing others in the name of justice." So he directly said what he thought in his mind is right.
"Then you did not know the world. Well pursuit of truth is not an easy thing and the weight of truth is not something anyone can bear. If truth is so important this world would be peaceful long ago. Anyway, all the best to your path to become a detective…"
Yuuki Rito spoke and walked out of this place casually. Ran did not chase after Yuuki Rito instead she looked at Shinichi. She felt that the words of Shinichi were true. After Yuuki Rito left Shinichi changed his topic and said.
"Look at the letter. How popular I am."Shinichi then shows the fan letters to show Ran the popularity of a detective.
"Your mind is probably full of girls. Instead of having so many why not just concentrate on one." Ran tells Shinichi why he is not serious with just one.
Shinichi stared at Ran and Ran blushed slightly and said "Why he is looking at me."
"It is getting late and we have to go to the classes." Shinichi simply changed to topic to escape from the awkward situation. Before they can leave Ran calls him and remains him about his promise.
"Do you remember your promise about tomorrow?" But Shinichi doesn't remember it clearly.
"You said that if I won the karate championship you would take me to the tropical land right."
Ran tells Shinichi clearly about what he has told her, which Shinichi looked under Ran's skirt, which Ran smacked him away with her King Kong Barbie power and he does remember his promise to her.
The next day they went to the tropical land. Yuuki Rito on the other hand did not have much interest in this. He would not get any confession from the murderer here. It would be a waste of his time. So he did not act here. Instead he went to the house of professor Agasa.
Professor Agasa is a good scientist with lots of good thoughts. Yuuki Rito was able to get some really useful information from him which helped him point out few of the people that he is looking for. But Yuuki Rito did not reveal any of the secrets for the safety.
But he got some of the secret items that professor Agasa is making and they can be useful for him in few places later. The system would not provide him with any system mall and he cannot buy things from it.
So the task of researching for immunity improvement medicine was left to professor Agasa. It might not be useful for others but to Yuuki Rito it is useful and a source of money in the future. Anything that can give money is good. With money he can gain power.
Yuuki Rito also doesn't want to meet Gin or others right now. Meeting them would not give him any good things instead it would be a waste of time. So he simply waited at the place of professor Agasa to meet with Shinichi that turned into a kid.
Yuuki Rito stayed at the place of professor Agasa many times while doing some research. So it is not unusual for him to stay. To be precise it was professor Agasa that wanted Yuuki Rito to stay because Yuuki Rito would cook for him.
Food is the magical thing that can change many things. It is sometimes more powerful than money in completing difficult tasks. Meeting Shinichi in the child form would solve many problems for him in the future.
So, he is simply waiting here to get the things right. At that time professor Agasa has done an experiment and his house got blasted. Fortunately Yuuki Rito hid early knowing the plot and was not affected by the blast.
