Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Info

My head ached terribly as i woke up, i was covered in blood and half drenched in the weird waters of the lake.

The corpses around me brought back the memories of how it happened.

A Twilight beast, all i could do was think back on what i knew.

Spawns were ranked from veiled, Twilight , gloom marked and forsaken. Although humanity is still unsure, there are still stronger spawns which lead to an unknown rank.

The highest known rank was forsaken and one forsaken was able to ruin a world on its own. While they are ranked from veiled, there were also corrupted races. A beast was the lowest rank and the nest was an horror, demon , devil, tyrant, wraith, titan and the last which considered a god rank race was a leviathan.

How did i do that, a Twilight ranked beast required at least 100 marked or one awakened to be able to kill it and yet, my eyes met the sword, i tried to pick it up but its weight was on another level from what i felt before. My eyes met the corpses again, a loud growl escaped my stomach. What should i do, a single symbol appeared in front of me. It meant:

"Rune"

As if responding to a call, a bunch of symbols appeared, the otherworldly glow they made lit up the lightless surroundings. Was this my runes.

Another benefit that seekers had was the right of runes. Just like a game, it allowed us to see our traits, aspect, and owned chronicles. They're more that the runes provided but that was way beyond my knowledge. At first, the symbols made no sense until i could read them.

Name – ???

Title – [None]

Rank – Seeker

Attributes-

Aspect – Shadow's Blessings

Shadows are not born, neither are they made. They just existed, from the light that spread through the dark. They aren't darkness but are the child of the dark. They watch and wait and follow their brethren. Shadows aren't gifts they are scars.

While spawns rank starts from veiled. The starting point of seekers, were marked. Once the first trial was marked, they became official seeker. The ranks went up awakened, master, saints, sentinels, celestials and divine. And under a special case there was the enlightened rank.

Night read through the first set of runes, his name being unknown didn't seem to bother him at all. His hands were clenched into a fist as he continued reading.

Aspect Rank – Divine

Soul – Dormant

Traits –

[Lost] – A part of you is lost in the endless darkness and light within you. It hopes to be found, and you hope to find it. What is lost can always be found.

[Sealed] – A power lies chained in the deepest part of your soul, its seal frees you but also enchains you in the darkest horrors of your nightmares.

The word divine left him speechless, a divine rank was on par with that of a god's ability but how did such a hight ranking aspect come with terrible set of traits.

The first set of traits made no sense, non of these things were abilities. Traits were like skills, they were special abilities that seeker's had, the stronger the were guaranteed their survival.

Regardless, he continued reading.

[Night Pierce] – Nothing can blind your sight.

[Shadow's Blessings] – Grants a shadow attributed trait upon ascension.

Chronicles: [Shadow Key], [Forgotten King's blade]

[Shadow Key] : It wasn't found but forged, from the very mist of the first shadow which possessed the ability of truth. Not all truths may be hidden, but when they are. Its key will appear, since lies are sins and sins shroud truth. Only its key can open the door shrouded by lies.

Enchantments: [???],[???],[???]

Rank: Twilight

[Forgotten King's blade]: A blade born of the will of a soul. Once wielded by a king, whose name was lost to time. Since he had no name, he was given the title—The Forgotten King. He ruled a land beneath the curtain of darkness. A king of silence, said to possess a power not born of any mortal realm but beyond it. The blade carried his soul which balanced the light and darkness his soul beared. His power was absolute but his heart remained pure.

Then something happened. Something that not even time recorded in its scrolls. A war? Betrayal? Deaths or even if chaos descended.

No one knew if his kingdom vanished in storms or was laid to ruin by something.

Only the blade remained buried in the heart of an island no one dares to find. Monsters roam there now. Twisted things, born from whatever ended him… or perhaps what he became.

And still, the blade waited.

Waited through centuries. In stillness. In silence for its owner.

In memory of what this place should have been.

Enchantments: [Sharpened edge],[Morphing Steel],[Link]

[Sharpened edge] : Its edges remained sharp as his will still lingered on its cold steel.

[Morph steel]: Its form changes since its original form was forgotten.

[Link]: When its wielder's will and its will align, a link may be formed.

Rank- Undetermined

Type- undetermined

Seeing the traits i had as well as the aspect, there was no hope for me. Not only was my rank just useless in name it came with a set of negative traits.

The sword came with good enchantments, but its rank was undetermined. Remembering what the hex said. Night hurried glanced back at his runes.

Tasks- [Find the secret hidden in the heart of the forgotten spire]

[Reward: One memory]

So it wasn't a lie.

Tears rolled down his face, while others wished to forget the memories of chaos. He didn't, although he remembered some, there were many things that he couldn't get to see even in his memories. His parents, his sister and even his only friend.

The hex only took things from him, now why did it want to give him back. He wiped his face. His stomach growled louder than before.

"It time to eat".

He grabbed the sword and under his grasped, he let out a steamy breath and just like a living metal, the sword shrunk it the size of a small dagger. It was black and far more adorned than the sword. The runes on its blade was far more intricate than before.

Night knelt beside a carcass held the blade properly as if he had years of experience.

Slowly dismantling the flesh of the corpse, he arranged it neatly. Soon he got to its chest and what was in it was not what he was expecting but rather a black rock.
