Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 May Your Lord Protect You

"Bang bang bang bang bang bang!"

Aroya pulled the trigger, aiming at the sleeping Hainas. Six silver demon-hunting bullets, imbued with the Evernight Goddess's prayers, slammed into Hainas's corrupted body.

"Ah ah ah!"

Hainas jolted awake from his sleep, letting out a heart-wrenching scream. The skin hit by the demon-hunting bullets instantly turned black and did not recover, like rotten wood struck by lightning. The blackness then rapidly spread and disintegrated. He clutched his abdomen, knelt to the ground, curled into a ball, and ceased moving.

"Did he get him?" Klein thought nervously.

"Clink clink."

Aroya skillfully ejected the spent casings and reloaded, then approached Hainas, aiming the gun directly at his head. She wasn't taking any chances; she intended to fire another round of demon-hunting bullets while Hainas was weak!

But just as Aroya's muzzle touched Hainas's head, he suddenly looked up.

"Praise the Lord," Hainas said with a crazed smile.

Something hidden beneath his black robe stirred restlessly. Only when Aroya got close enough did she clearly see what it was—it was two human faces! One large and one small, embedded directly into Hainas's chest and abdomen. Through the black robe, the two faces twisted and contorted, their solidified pain almost tangible!

As Hainas uttered a prayer, the two faces simultaneously opened their mouths:

"Praise you, my Lord,

Your will shall be done on earth,

As it echoes within our flesh and blood."

It was an indescribable language of corruption. The two mouths constantly opened and closed, forming a duet, as blasphemous and mad prayers poured forth!

Boom!

Klein felt his mind buzz, as if a bomb had exploded inside him, and his consciousness went blank for a moment. When he came to, he was already lying on the ground, blood dripping from his nose to his chin. Dizziness and pain filled his mind.

"What the hell?"

The sharp, blasphemous language still echoed. Klein struggled to lift his head and saw Aroya lying on the ground, bleeding from her nose and mouth, unconscious. She was closer to Hainas and had taken a greater impact. In the hall, now covered with bullet marks and flesh, only Hainas remained standing. The two faces under his black robe were still chanting, accompanied by the corrupt language, and the wounds caused by the demon-hunting bullets had already healed.

He spread his arms, his face filled with fanaticism and piety.

"This is the supreme power of the Lord! I received his revelation in my sleep!"

"Holy crap!"

Klein cursed silently. He tried to struggle to his feet, but his body was completely unresponsive. The corrupt voice constantly stimulated his brain, making his limbs weak. If he hadn't already adapted to the whispers above the gray fog, he probably would have fallen into a complete coma like Aroya.

The two faces beneath the black robe prayed, and in the pauses between words, uttered desperate pleas and cries.

"My dear, please stop…"

"Daddy, I hurt so much."

Klein noticed that Hainas, who had been ecstatic, suddenly froze upon hearing the woman's and child's cries, and then a look of pain welled up on his face. But very quickly, those few emotions dissipated, and he smiled again.

"Hahaha… This is… this is the Lord's grace! This way, our family can be together forever!"

Hainas wept, his face full of joyful yet desperate expressions, completely shedding the last shred of his humanity and fully immersing himself in the worship of the evil god. He gently stroked the two faces on his abdomen, yet ignored their screams and wails, only offering the purest and most fervent prayers to his "Lord," forcing the two faces to continuously utter corrupt words in extreme torment.

"This Lunatic, did he sacrifice his wife and child?!"

Klein felt his scalp tingle, and disgust and anger surged through him. He had never seen this side of Hainas before. Indeed, as long as one became a follower of an evil god, no matter how normal their behavior, they had essentially become a Monster in human skin!

Hainas muttered to himself for a while, then suddenly started moving again. He looked at Aroya, who was lying on the ground, his eyes gleaming with hunger and greed. He opened his mouth, which split to his ears, his stark white teeth covered in bloody mucus.

"Daddy, I'm so hungry."

"My dear, let's eat her."

The two faces on his abdomen also spoke in unison, encouraging him to continue.

"Oh no!"

Klein suddenly tensed. This guy was going to eat Ms. Aroya! He had to stop him!

But Hainas's blasphemous language continued, and he couldn't stand up. Seeing the other party squat down and open his mouth towards Aroya, he gritted his teeth and whispered, "Blessed life."

"Bang!"

Just then, a crisp sound overshadowed Klein's murmur. He saw an exquisite teapot fly across the hall, hitting Hainas squarely on the head and shattering.

"Die!"

A roar came from behind him. A figure quickly covered the distance, rushing in front of Hainas. With both hands gripping a sturdy cane, he swung it in a full arc, striking Hainas hard across the face.

"Splish!"

Like smashing a watermelon or crushing an insect—that satisfying sound. Hainas fell backward, a deep indentation from the cane on his face. Klein stared in surprise at the figure; it was Lu Ze, the very person they were meant to protect!

"Scream! Scream your mother!"

Lu Ze's eyes were bloodshot, and blood streamed from his nose and ears. He cursed Hainas through gritted teeth, his cane repeatedly smashing Hainas's head. Splattered blood landed on his face and hands, sizzling and smoking, but it couldn't stop him from delivering the fatal blows.

"Ah ah… Praise the Lord."

Hainas, being beaten, spoke in a muddled voice. Immediately after, the two faces on his abdomen simultaneously opened their mouths.

"Watch out!"

Klein quickly warned, but it was too late. A piercing shriek, accompanied by corrupt language, erupted from the two mouths again, surging towards Lu Ze. Klein, behind him, only received the aftershock, yet he felt as if his head had been violently hammered again, dizzy and in pain.

Through his blurred vision, Klein saw Lu Ze stop moving, remaining still.

"Heh heh."

Hainas looked at Lu Ze, who seemed to be in a daze, and let out a chilling smile. "You have the Lord's oh oh oh—"

Before he could finish his sentence, Lu Ze lifted his foot and brutally kicked him between his legs!

"Crack!"

A sound of something shattering seemed to echo, and Klein, watching, felt a chill down below.

"What, screaming so loudly, did your Lord not protect your dick?"

Lu Ze sneered, lifting his leg for another kick. Blood was gushing from his nose and ears, but his mind was clear. Although his face was fierce, at this moment, his mind was racing, thinking about how to deal with this Monster.

Why did Lu Ze appear at this time?

Because he never intended to put his life entirely in the hands of others from the start.

After hiding his sister Cecilia, Lu Ze slipped out of the lounge and hid behind a partition, observing the scene. The battle had been intense, and the two Nighthawks present hadn't noticed him. Hainas seemed to have, but he was too beaten to act.

So, initially, Lu Ze was relatively safe as an observer.

Until Hainas awakened the two faces beneath his black robe, using them to amplify himself and corrupt others. The defiling language of corruption initially hit Lu Ze hard, but just as his mind was about to collapse, the illusory ocean he had experienced when drinking the potion reappeared, as if non-existent tides gently cradled his mind, resisting the chanting.

However, this power seemed limited. While resisting the erosion, the cool sensation was also gradually disappearing. If Hainas wasn't dealt with, he too would eventually descend into madness.
