Chapter 12 - Trust me Mia, I will surprise you..

William finished his meal and began his ascent up the stairs, his heart racing and beads of sweat forming on his brow.

"I don't feel well," he muttered.

"You must be tired. You need to rest," Nancy suggested gently. "Let's get you settled, and I'll wake you in a bit. Do you have any meetings today?"

"Yes, at 3 PM," he managed to reply, struggling to regain his composure.

"Alright, I'll make sure you're up before then. You have about an hour," she reassured him.

William nodded in agreement.

As he reached his bedroom, he suddenly collapsed, appearing unconscious.

Nancy stayed by his side until she was sure he had fallen into a deep sleep, then quietly exited the room.

Picking up her phone, she dialed someone with urgency. "Victor, it's time. I've got him," she said firmly.

"Okay," a deep voice responded on the other end.

Meanwhile, I was with my new boyfriend, getting ready to dive into a book when my phone interrupted the moment with a loud ring.

Ring!!

Ring!!

I checked the caller ID.

it was my bastard husband's secretary, Mia. She rarely called, so I knew it was serious.

"Hello, Mia. What's going on?" I asked, concerned.

"Ma'am, I'm sorry to disturb you, but the boss is missing, and the meeting is about to start in just one hour. He hasn't arranged anything," she explained, her voice tinged with frustration. "The entire board is here except him."

I took a deep breath to steady myself. "What do you need from me? Have you tried contacting him?"

"Please, can you go check on him at home? His phone is off, and I've tried calling several times. We have an important deal to finalize today, and I don't understand why he's forgotten his responsibilities. He's so irresponsible!" she pleaded.

"Oh gosh," I exclaimed.

"Alright, I'll figure something out."

I then ended the call.

I turned to my boyfriend.

"I don't know what to do; he's being so careless. What should I do? I do care about this."

"Don't worry. Just attend the meeting yourself," he suggested.

"Wait, you want me to lead the meeting?" I was taken aback.

"Yes, you can be the boss today. You'll lead the meeting while I'm there to support you. Just wear these earbuds; when you get to the office, call me. I'll listen in and guide you on what to say. With your long hair, no one will notice anything unusual," he explained confidently.

"Are you serious?" I asked, half-laughing at the idea.

He nodded with a grin.

"You've always wanted to prove yourself and reach your goals. This is your chance! Don't worry, you'll do great."

A smile crept onto my face as excitement mixed with nerves bubbled within me.

I knew I had to do this.

After all, there was no turning back now.

He drove me to the company,

But before that we went shopping,

I chose professional outfits before escorting me to the company.

Despite my initial fear, I understood I had to face this challenge.

When I arrived, the board was already seated in the boardroom.

There were several familiar faces, and among them, I spotted Mia.

She approached me, her expression concerned. "Please tell me you have good news for me. The boss hasn't shown up yet, and the meeting is about to start."

I reassured her, "The boss is right in front of you."

Mia questioned me further, but I was serious.

"Trust me, Mia, I will surprise you."

She handed me some documents as I took a deep breath and stepped into the room.

I didn't speak anything yet.

"Thank you everyone for your patience. I see our boss is absent, and he isn't answering any calls, so I'll be leading this meeting," Victor declared rather rudely.

I could feel the tension rising as I prepared to speak.

"Thank you, Victor, but I am here on his behalf," I stated firmly.

The audacity of my words surprised even me.

Victor shot me a look of contempt, and I could hear him mutter, "How can a housewife lead such an important meeting?"

"Bastard," bon said

"Don't worry, I'll surprise you," I replied confidently.

He sat down, his disdain palpable.

Then I introduced myself, "I am Ella, Williams' wife, and I'm here on his behalf today. I hope you find this meeting productive."

The meeting proceeded smoothly with my concise points.

Bon helped me.

Noone notice anything.

To my surprise, Victor's initial skepticism turned to appreciation as the meeting unfolded.

We managed to close a deal, and it felt incredibly rewarding to receive acknowledgment from the team.

The meeting concluded with me thanking everyone for their attendance, expressing how lovely it was to be with them.

As I exited, a woman approached. "Can I get to know you better?" she asked warmly.

"Of course," I replied. She continued, "I loved how you led the meeting. The confidence you exuded was impressive."

Listening intently, she inquired about my current endeavors, mentioning Victor's remark about me being "just a housewife."

"Yes, I am just a housewife, full of dreams but feeling like my hands are tied," I admitted.

"Do you wish to work?" she asked.

"Yes, I do," I responded earnestly.

"Great! Meet me at Eric's restaurant. I'll be waiting for you," she proposed with enthusiasm.

"Thank you, I look forward to it," I said, filled with hope as I stepped out.
