Baki's face brightened at Seongji's suggestion. "An outing? That's perfect! We can go to the park!"
Seongji nodded, already moving to gather Yenna's things. "Let me pack her bag."
While Seongji prepared the diaper bag with meticulous care—checking twice for wipes, diapers, spare clothes, and snacks—Baki watched Yenna. She sat on the floor playing with colorful blocks, occasionally glancing at him with suspicious eyes.
"Come on, little marshmallow. I'm not that scary, am I?" Baki crouched down beside her, trying to look as non-threatening as possible.
Yenna simply stacked another block, completely ignoring him.
Baki sighed dramatically. "Is there no hope for me?"
---
Twenty minutes later, they were ready. Baki had changed into more casual clothes—though he still somehow managed to look intimidating—and carried the diaper bag. Seongji held Yenna, who now wore a tiny yellow hat with bear ears that made her look even more adorable.
"That hat..." Baki couldn't help but grin. "Where did you even find that?"
"I bought it yesterday," Seongji said matter-of-factly, adjusting the hat on Yenna's head. "She needs protection from the sun."
As they walked through the streets, people gave Baki a wide berth. The sight of two men—one carrying a baby, the other looking especially dangerous—was enough to make pedestrians stare.
"We look like kidnappers," Baki muttered.
"Speak for yourself," Seongji replied. "I look perfectly natural."
Baki glanced at Seongji wearing a baby carrier with a teddy bear print. "Sure you do."
---
The park was bustling with families, but when Baki and Seongji arrived, several mothers instinctively pulled their children closer.
"Tch! Do I really look that dangerous?" Baki said dryly.
They found a spot near the playground where they could sit on the grass. Seongji carefully set Yenna down on a blanket and took out some toys. She immediately grabbed a plastic rattle and shook it enthusiastically.
"Ga! Ga!"
"She seems happy," Seongji noted with satisfaction.
Baki sat down beside them, watching Yenna play. He reached out slowly with a colorful ball, rolling it toward her. Yenna's eyes followed the ball, then shifted to Baki. For a moment, he thought she might smile, but instead, she picked up the ball and threw it in the opposite direction.
"Ouch," Seongji said, though he was clearly amused. "She's got good aim, though."
"Tch!" Baki grumbled, crawling across the blanket to retrieve the ball.
---
As the afternoon progressed, Baki tried various ways to make Yenna comfortable with him. Suddenly he noticed her staring at a vendor's shop. The vendor was blowing bubbles from a solution. Baki immediately went to the vendor and bought some. He returned to Yenna, opened the bottle, and began blowing bubbles.
Yenna's eyes widened. She reached up toward the bubbles, making excited sounds.
"Gaa! Gaah!"
Baki blew more bubbles, creating a small cloud that floated around Yenna. She giggled as she tried to grab them, but whenever she did, they burst. Slowly, Yenna became annoyed and started to cry.
"Hahaha, you've got a long way to go," Seongji laughed.
Baki's face darkened, but since Yenna was around, he didn't curse. Then he spotted a balloon vendor. He rushed over and bought a bunch of balloons.
"Want to hold them, little marshmallow?" Baki asked, extending the balloons to Yenna.
Yenna looked at the balloons, then at Baki, then back at the balloons. She extended her hands toward him.
Baki gave her the balloons. Yenna's expression broke into a smile.
"Ga! Ga! Gaaa!"
"She likes it!" Baki exclaimed, his own face lighting up. "See? I'm not so bad, am I?"
---
As the sun began to set, they decided it was time to head back. Yenna had tired herself out and was now dozing in Seongji's arms, her small head resting against his shoulder.
Baki walked beside them, carrying the diaper bag and balloons. "Today was good," he said quietly. "Really good."
"You should come home more often," Seongji replied, adjusting Yenna's hat to keep the sun from her eyes.
"Maybe we should move now. That place isn't safe anymore." Baki looked at the sleeping baby, her face peaceful and innocent.
Seongji replied, "I'll talk to Sally and the others."
They walked in comfortable silence for a while before Baki spoke again. "Hey, Seongji?"
"Hmm?"
"It'd be great if we could live our life like this, right?"
Seongji glanced at Baki, a slight smile crossing his face. "Are you getting soft now?"
Baki laughed. "No."
