Chapter 99 - Chapter ninety-nine

The anxiety is a restless beast inside me. I am trapped here. I couldn't leave, but I also couldn't help but overthink every possible scenario that could be happening to Vega.

"Is there a gym I could use?" I ask Lucia.

Lucia immediately shows me the way. It's an enormous room. For a home gym, it is incredibly well equipped, even more equipped than my father's facility. When I ask Lucia why, she explains, "It's because most of the mercenaries assigned to work in the estate train here."

I spend the rest of the day punishing my muscles. I lift weights until my arms burn and punch the heavy sand bag until the knuckles of my wraps are dusty and sore. The rest of the day is spent with me trying to stay grounded by watching current matches on the TV.

This is now day two, and I am eagerly waiting for Vega to come back. I keep staring at my phone. I had wanted to message him, just a quick check-in, but I was afraid of disturbing him while he's on his operation, so I decided against it.
