As the car approached Queens, Iron Man pulled Peter aside and had him record an "alibi" video.
Well, it was mainly to appease Aunt May.
Peter thought about it and realized it made sense, so he recorded one.
Afterward, Iron Man told Peter that Happy would be his exclusive point of contact.
If they needed Peter to get involved, someone would contact him.
As he was getting out of the car, Iron Man noticed Peter's absent-mindedness and probably guessed what he was thinking. He cautioned, "Remember, don't do what I would do, and don't do what I wouldn't do."
Peter asked in confusion, "So, I do nothing?"
"No, no, right in between those two areas. There's a gray area, and that's where you can operate," Iron Man didn't want to discourage Peter's enthusiasm.
Peter pondered, "Oh~"
Did this mean he had official permission to act?
From now on, when he was out on the streets, he wouldn't just be a vigilante, but a provisional Avenger!
As for how big this gray area was?
Heh, didn't even Iron Man himself know?
Hehehe. Peter was already dreaming of a bright future.
Iron Man suddenly turned to the side.
Peter thought Iron Man was going to give him a hug before leaving, but instead, Iron Man just opened the car door for him: "I didn't plan to hug you. We're not that close yet."
Peter sighed.
When Peter got back home, Aunt May hadn't gotten off work yet.
So, he lay on his bed and continued to tinker with the Web-Shooters.
Frankly, if it wasn't almost dinner time, he definitely would have gone out to test them instead of fiddling with them at home.
He had to admit, the new Web-Shooters' functions were incredibly powerful, and he was completely fascinated!
Peter could already imagine how strong he would become once he mastered all the web-shooting combination modes in the Web-Shooters and fully understood the technology in his suit!
Click!
Just as Peter was excitedly studying the Web-Shooters, the door suddenly opened, and Aunt May walked in.
Peter was startled. His mind raced a thousand miles a minute, and he quickly lowered his right hand, which was wearing the Web-Shooter, while his left hand pretended to cover his eyes.
"Peter, you…" Aunt May walked in, intending to say "You're back," but stopped short when she saw Peter's actions, quickly changing her words, "What happened?"
"Nothing, just got into a fight." Peter told a lie that wasn't entirely a lie; he had indeed fought someone, and more than one someone at that.
"Who, who hit you?"
"Some guys."
"What 'some guys'? Names?"
"Uh, Steve, Scott, Sam, something like that. I don't really know."
"Steve? The Steve who lives in 12C? The one with the buck teeth? I did hear he was a bit of a troublemaker. Scott and Sam are his bad friends?" Aunt May turned to the kitchen and got a towel, dampening it with some water.
"No, no, no, not him," Peter was startled; he hadn't expected Aunt May to actually find a match. He quickly patched things up, "You don't know them. They, they live in Brooklyn, that's right, Brooklyn."
Aunt May walked back, handing Peter a towel. "I hope you gave him a good one back."
Peter took the towel and quickly pressed it against his wound before Aunt May could see it.
"Of course! I gave him a few good ones, really. It's just that his friend was huge, really, really huge."
Aunt May patted Peter's head. Seeing how nervous he was, she gave up on checking the wound. "What do you want for dinner, my little tough guy?"
"I want Sarlito!" Sarlito was an Italian dish, similar to fried rice. It was one of Aunt May's specialties.
"I'll go see if we have enough ingredients in the fridge," Aunt May said, turning to leave the room. "Close the door for me."
Bang.
After dinner, Peter continued tinkering with his Web-Shooters in his room.
It wasn't until around ten o'clock that he found an opportunity to sneak out of his room in his suit, intending to play the hero. And, of course, to try out his new suit.
However, for some reason, Queens was unusually quiet tonight.
Peter wandered around outside for several hours, but didn't encounter anything.
Well, nothing happening was actually a good thing.
But it wasn't exactly an ideal outcome for someone who was eager to test out his "new toy."
Around one in the morning, seeing that there was really nothing to do, Peter went back home, took off his suit, and lay down in bed.
Right, let's check out that web.
Peter closed his eyes.
Huh?
Another glowing point appeared beside the already dimmed point representing Shadow Spider-Man.
Peter was overjoyed.
This meant he could go to another Spider-Man's world, experience his life, and gain some of his abilities!
He decided to act immediately.
Peter checked the time, 1:13. He just had to be back before 7:00.
That meant he had about six hours of "other-world experience time."
After silently noting this, Peter closed his eyes and slowly moved the glowing web in his consciousness towards that glowing point.
Snap!
When the glowing web connected with the glowing point, Peter unsurprisingly "fell asleep."
But he quickly snapped out of it!
When he came to again, he found himself crouching on the edge of a building. He was wearing a teal hoodie and jeans, with a backpack slung over his shoulder.
"Uh, what's with the getup? The friendly neighborhood big bro?" Peter quipped.
Memory fragments promptly flooded his mind.
Unsurprisingly, this body was also called Peter Parker. Maybe all Spider-Men were named Peter Parker? Or perhaps all Peter Parkers would become Spider-Man? But why?
Peter figured he might find the answer after experiencing more worlds.
Continue receiving.
This world's Peter Parker was surprisingly similar to him. He hadn't had his spider-powers for very long, but just like him, he had made his own Web-Shooters and web fluid.
However, this one was a year older than him, already 17 years old.
He had a girlfriend named Gwen Stacy.
Tonight, Gwen had invited Peter over to her house for dinner. During the meal, Gwen's father, Police Captain George Stacy, brought up Spider-Man, considering him a menace to society.
Peter was stung by this and couldn't help but defend Spider-Man.
As a result, a perfectly good family gathering was ruined.
But it wasn't without its gains.
Facing questions from his girlfriend, Gwen, Peter chose to reveal his true identity to clear up any misunderstandings between them.
At the same time, something Police Captain Stacy said during the dinner also enlightened Peter.
"That guy wears a mask, like a fugitive, and the criminals he catches all look like they came from the same mold, as if he's settling a personal score!"
