Osborn's luxury apartment.
Harry stood before the coffee machine, operating it mechanically. The machine hummed as it brewed, its vibration subtly passing into Harry's body—making it hard to tell what was going through his mind.
Flint Marko sat nervously on the edge of the leather sofa, stiff and cautious like a henchman who'd been caught doing something wrong.
Peter sat across from them, but inwardly he was focused on persuading "Bully Spider-Man."
Bully Spider-Man's academic background was surprisingly solid.
He was a physics prodigy from Columbia University, with impressive accomplishments in mechanics, quantum mechanics, photonics, nuclear fusion, acoustics, and nanotechnology. He had even received several awards.
Norman Osborn, Otto Octavius, and Dr. Curt Connors had all praised his scientific talent.
Dr. Connors had once invited him to work as his lab assistant—though the role provided little income, it was valuable for learning.
And now that the Osborn Group had lost Norman—its president and chief researcher—the company desperately needed a capable scientist.
Peter's suggestion was simple:Harry should try recruiting Dr. Connors as Osborn's new chief researcher—and Bully Spider-Man would continue working as his assistant.
After all, Peter had seen what Connors was capable of in The Amazing Spider-Man world—Connors had even developed the Lizard Serum there.
Of course, that serum only existed because of upper-level pressure from the Osborn Group in that timeline.
Here, they could simply avoid that area of research and steer clear of danger.
Flint's daughter's illness, for instance, was a perfect direction for research.
Muscular dystrophy was a hereditary skeletal muscle-degeneration disease with several subtypes—some showed symptoms as early as age two to eight, others during adolescence.
But the outcome was always the same: paralysis or death.
Modern medicine had no effective cure; at most, treatments could delay progression.
Globally, the incidence was high, bringing tremendous suffering to countless families.
Conveniently, the Osborn Group had strong foundations in biological science. The "super serum" used by Norman and Harry Osborn was their own creation.
Norman went mad when he used it, while Harry suffered no side effects—evidence that the serum's negative components had been filtered out.
Not only that—the radioactive spider that gave Bully Spider-Man his powers was also a product of the Osborn Group.
And Dr. Connors was a leading scholar in biology. At the moment, he was only a guest professor at Columbia University—with modest pay.
If Harry was willing to spend the money, poaching him wouldn't be hard.
And with Bully Spider-Man assisting…
With the right people and funding, why fear failure?
It would even help stabilize society—recruiting Sandman would remove a potential threat and turn him into a powerful ally. Why not?
After Peter explained his plan, Flint became visibly emotional.
He was a simple, straightforward man.
If Harry and Peter could truly cure his daughter, he would literally give them his life.
Harry, however, stayed calm.
To him, Peter's words could be summarized in two characters:empty promises.
A beautifully drawn promise, sure.
Yes—if they really developed a treatment for such genetic diseases, whether a special medicine or something else, it would be profitable.
And by "profitable," he meant not only financially—Osborn's public image, stock value, and reputation would skyrocket.
The group could rise from the ashes.
And indeed, muscular dystrophy had a high global incidence.Every year, many pregnancies were terminated after prenatal PCR detected its markers.
It was a disease that affected entire families.
But this was also a massive medical challenge. If it were easy to solve, someone would've solved it long ago.
Still, was the "super serum" that created super-soldiers—or the radioactive spider that made Spider-Man—something an ordinary lab could produce?
Whether through luck or skill, in science, results were what mattered.
Sometimes, research really did need a little luck.
As for Harry's concerns about immediate revenue…
Peter asked for a few sheets of paper. His pen flew across the pages, filling them with dense synthesis formulas, processing requirements, and technical notes.
What he wrote was, naturally, research results from his original universe—the Optical Microscope Glasses and the SPC-120703 High-Polymer Biomass Fiber Material.
His home world was more than a decade ahead of this one—its technology had progressed further.
It had experienced alien invasions that dramatically accelerated scientific development. There were Iron Man, S.H.I.E.L.D., Ultron…
And even in that advanced world, his Optical Microscope Glasses had earned nearly a million in revenue within months—though he received little himself, since he reinvested almost everything into research.
The key point was:the technology was very simple.
With Osborn's capabilities, they could mass-produce it within days.
Previously, such a project would've been insignificant for the Osborn Group;now, it would be a meaningful source of income.
But the true focus was the SPC-120703 High-Polymer Biomass Fiber.
Tony Stark himself had approved it.He personally acknowledged that this spider-silk-derived material surpassed the biomaterials he had researched.
Its industrial potential was massive.
It could be used to create lighter yet more impact-resistant bulletproof vests and armor. To make thinner but stronger steel cables.Even to manufacture body layers of armored vehicles or components of bulletproof glass.
Its mechanical properties were phenomenal.
For example, bulletproof glass was made by laminating glass sheets or high-strength panels with transparent adhesive materials. This composite spider-silk material not only had far superior mechanical strength compared to existing adhesives—it also offered better light transmission, making its presence almost undetectable.
Once Stark Industries finalized its application direction, Peter was sure he'd receive substantial revenue.
He believed this world would offer the material the same bright future—
Perhaps even brighter.
