Chapter 2 - Meeting Him Again

Evelyne was silent, she was rooted to the spot when she found her ex husband Tristan, in front of her. She had vowed never to see him again, but fate had brought them back together.

"Tristan, what are you doing here?" she asked.

"What am I doing here? This is my company, so I have every right to be in this place," he replied.

She was a bit incredulous when she heard that, as she remembered the name of her ex husband's company was not Samcoo Company but TnR Company.

However, Tristan coolly explained that he had sold his old company after his divorce from Evelyne.

He said that it was to let go of all the bad things he had shared with her. So he started a new company by buying a small company and growing it to a huge success.

"And now I'm the CEO of this company. You will work as my secretary, I want you to follow all the rules I make."

At first she refused, intending to leave the office and never return to the company because she didn't want to see him again.

However, his words reminded her of her current situation.

"I know that you need a job after coming back to this city. I can pay you more if you keep working for me. It won't be easy to find a job in this town, especially since I hold so many businesses here."

He threatened that he could ask all the companies in the city not to accept Evelyne as their employee. Tristan, who was now a successful Billionaire, had considerable power in the city's businesses. So he could have done just that.

"Haven't you had enough of ruining my life six years ago by accusing me of having an affair? Now you still want to do it by threatening me like that?" asked Evelyn in an irritated tone but trying to hold back her emotions.

If she were to show her frustration to him, there were two possibilities that would happen. First, it will actually make Tristan happy because he really intends to make Evelyn upset. Then secondly, Tristan could be very offended by her words and the worse thing would really happen.

Where he would ask all the companies in the city not to accept Evelyne as their employee.

With a smirk on his face, he caught her jaw quite firmly. But it did not hurt her, then lifted her face to look at him.

"So how about it, Ex wife? Do you want to accept my offer as my secretary?" he asked.

That's when she really had no choice but to accept the offer because it was the only thing Evelyne could do. She needed money not just to support herself but someone who was very precious to her right now.

Reluctantly, she nodded her head and agreed to it.

"Alright, I will accept this job and become your secretary," she replied firmly while removing his hand from her face.

She let out an annoyed sigh, but in no time Evelyne was able to control her emotions again.

"Good, very good decision."

He moved away from her and sat back in his chair. "I need you to schedule all the things I need. Starting from internal meetings, meetings with business partners and also other meetings. Including all work related activities."

The man explained every detail he needed, and Evelyne notted it down in the small notebook she always carried with her. She knew the work would be hard, but she also knew the money would be great.

"And one more thing, if I ask you to working overtime in the company, then you have to do it until I consider everything done," he said.

"What? How long do I have to spend at the company?" the woman asked in surprise.

He replied until all the work was done, every report he needed and whatever he wanted Evelyne to do for him.

Hearing that answer, she felt like she was being deliberately set up by him to keep working for him. But if she had to work late into the night, Evelyne herself felt confused about what would happen.

She tried to protest, but Tristan didn't seem to give her room to debate this. Since she had already accepted her job, Evelyne would do it even if she had to walk on fire.

"Do you understand your job? Now I want you to do all these reports and give them to me before lunchtime," he said as he placed a stack of blue folders filled with documents on the table.

"Yes, sir." Without saying anything else, she picked up the stack of folders and walked towards the door.

Before leaving, Tristan called out to her again.

"I want you to do all that work properly and thoroughly. I know very well that you are meticulous about what you do. But this time I remind you to do it carefully. Because all the data is very important for the company," he said with a cold and sharp look in his eyes.

"Yes. I understand, sir." she nodded her head and left the CEO's office to sit at her new desk, right in front of the room.

During her day at work, she had overheard the employees talking about Tristan's fiancé.

'So he's engaged?' she thought as she overheard their conversation.

She didn't know why when she overheard it, she felt that Tristan had completely forgotten about her. In the six years since they split up, he had moved on and now had a fiancé?

For a moment her eyes dropped, she didn't understand what she was feeling right now. But Evelyne didn't want to sink too deep into this matter, because her current relationship with Tristan was just a job.

'He's just in the past. I shouldn't dwell on it. I have things to focus on right now!'

She looked at her phone's wallpaper, a picture of her with someone who made Evelyne excited again. She quickly finished the assignment so she wouldn't have to work overtime, especially on her first day.

In the afternoon at 6:00pm, Evelyne had finished all her work and she left the company after getting permission from Tristan.

"Well, it's your first day so you can leave now," he said coldly without looking up from the documents on his desk.

"Yes, sir." In a hurry, she left the room and as soon as the door closed Tristan raised his head and looked at the door.

Evelyne rushed to the bus stop and boarded the bus that had just arrived in the direction of her home.

However, before she actually reached her house she went to a place where she had to pick someone up.

In front of a daycare gate, she saw a boy standing waiting for her.

The dark haired boy with blue eyes was waiting with his teacher. As soon as he saw Evelyne, his smile widened and he ran over to her.

"Mommy!"
