Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 His Posture Was Like a God's

Damian and Barbara instantly moved back to Wayne Manor, where Dane was already standing, waiting for them.

"What's wrong?" Damian asked.

"Nothing. I need to tell you something. Scarecrow is dead, killed by your second brother."

"Second brother? Who? Jason? He's not my brother!"

"Who exactly are you people?"

Barbara looked at the scene before her, still shaken.

Of course, she recognized this place; it was Wayne Manor, where she used to come for training often.

"Let me introduce you. This kid is the future legitimate heir of Wayne Group, Damian Wayne."

"And also Bruce Wayne's biological son."

"This is impossible!"

Barbara looked shocked.

"Bruce never mentioned this."

"Because he doesn't even know!"

Damian pressed his arm, and his mask retracted into his suit, revealing his annoyed expression.

Barbara wavered, because the boy's face was so much like Bruce's, practically a smaller version of him.

Damian spoke bluntly:

"After Bruce and my mother had their fun back then, he pulled up his pants and ran. Mother gave birth to me at my grandfather's house."

Barbara felt awkward, because she thought that this was indeed something he could do.

Bruce's identity was that of a playboy, and no one could be sure he wouldn't cause an accident.

She had to change the subject, looking at Dane:

"So who are you? And why are you at Bruce's house?"

"I have two identities. One is the wealthy Dane Davis, CEO of Vanguard Technology. You might have heard of it."

"My other identity is Shazam, well... a demigod, I suppose."

"I represent the Justice League, and I'm here to invite Bruce to join us."

Barbara looked closely and finally remembered.

She had once seen in the news that Dane was the fastest-rising billionaire in the past year.

At the time, she had only caught a glimpse and didn't pay it much attention.

After all, as Batman's personal secretary, most of her energy was focused on fighting crime.

But Shazam? Demigod? And what the hell is the Justice League?

Barbara really wanted to suspect that the person opposite her was insane, but then she thought of the supernatural event of her and Damian being instantly teleported here, and suddenly she wasn't so confident anymore.

At this moment, Alfred suddenly ran up in a hurry. He was stunned when he saw Barbara, then exclaimed with delight:

"Miss Barbara, you're here!"

"What happened, Alfred?"

Alfred's delighted expression suddenly changed again, and he said anxiously:

"Master Wayne hadn't been able to contact you for a long time, thinking you were captured by Scarecrow and them, so..."

"So he went into the criminals' Base alone and got into a tough fight there?"

Dane suddenly interjected, and Alfred quickly nodded.

"Where is he?"

"Penguin's Northern Ice Factory."

"I see..."

Dane looked down at his wristwatch.

"The time we agreed upon with Bruce is almost up. It seems he has indeed neglected a lot during this period. He won't be able to solve this matter."

He suddenly said, "Clark, you heard that, right? Notify Diana to come up too."

"Who are you talking to?"

Damian looked confused, but soon, Clark and Diana arrived before them at super speed.

"So, we finally have something to do?"

Clark looked excited. Diana didn't speak, but she also looked expectant.

Dane quipped: "Actually, in our line of work, no mission is the best."

Clark lowered his head, a little embarrassed. He had only appeared once during the last encounter with Joker, and the latter had escaped, so he was a bit bothered by it.

Dane brought the conversation back to the main topic:

"To the point, Batman can't handle this incident. We must intervene directly. Superman, you go to the Northern Ice Factory and rescue him."

"Leave it to me!" Clark said confidently.

"Hmph, you look the part, but can you do it, big guy?"

Damian started his habitual taunting again, but Clark didn't mind his cold remarks.

He had endured countless cold looks as he grew up, but none of them could pierce his heart.

Moreover, this was just a child's jest.

Clark didn't know yet that this child could single-handedly cut through a group of heavily armed mercenaries.

He smiled at Damian, then tore off his outer jacket, revealing the blue battle suit underneath.

"Then I'm off."

With that, Clark suddenly lifted off the ground, floating in mid-air as if losing gravity.

Damian's eyes widened, and Alfred and Barbara's expressions were no better, all looking shocked.

Clark's figure moved, and with a whoosh, he flew out the window.

"So, what's my mission?"

Diana asked.

Dane reached behind him and pulled out an arm-sized capsule-shaped container. Inside the container was an unknown blue liquid.

"Scarecrow has set up a 'Rainstorm' device in Simon Stark's company, intending to spread his fear gas throughout the city."

"This capsule contains the antidote for the gas. You go and put it into the 'Rainstorm,' and it will neutralize the gas."

"Understood."

Diana was concise.

Damian then looked at Diana: "You wouldn't happen to do that too, would you?"

Diana gave him a smile that was incredibly lethal, captivating not just men but almost Barbara too.

She waved her hand, and her lady's trench coat flew off, revealing ancient armor underneath.

She had learned to fly as early as 1984. Although she couldn't be as uninhibited as Dane and Clark, it was completely sufficient for traveling.

Most importantly, the principle of her flight completely defied common sense.

Diana swung the Lasso of Truth from her waist, and the other end of the rope flew into the clouds, as if lassoing something.

She pulled hard, hoisting herself into the sky.

"Holy shit!"

Damian began to question reality.

He turned to Dane, looking as if his worldview had been shattered: "That's not scientific!"

"Too bad it's magic, which isn't governed by science," Dane said casually, while typing a message to Jason.

There were some things he couldn't say directly, fearing Barbara and Alfred would argue with him if they knew.

"Scarecrow has a backup plan; I've sent Wonder Woman to deal with it."

"Superman is going to rescue Batman. Your mission is to go to Arkham Asylum. Kill anyone who tries to cause trouble!"

"Most importantly, Joker must die. We can't let that lunatic continue to live!"

Soon, an "OK!" came back from the other side.

...Northern Ice Factory.

At this moment, Batman and Nightwing were surrounded by a group of fully armed mercenaries.

Batman looked at Nightwing beside him, his expression complex: "I told you to go back to Blüdhaven."

Nightwing, instead, smiled at him: "You think you can handle it without me? Come on, Bruce, when are you going to be direct and say 'thank you' or that you need help?"

Facing the desperate situation before him, Batman also smiled: "Never!"

Nightwing had come chasing a shipment of weapons transported from Blüdhaven to Gotham City.

He happened to see the current state of Gotham, so he decided to stay and help Bruce.

But like Batman, he had fallen into a trap set by local villains and was now trapped here.

Penguin, Black Mask, and Two-Face appeared together, laughing excitedly as they watched the two men surrounded in the center of the area.

"Hahahaha, I didn't expect to catch two big fish at once!"

Two-Face took out his treasured lucky coin and said ominously, "Today, let the coin decide your fate."

Black Mask wasted no more words, waving a hand to command all the mercenaries: "Kill them!"

The mercenaries raised their automatic rifles and immediately fired a volley.

Going up for hand-to-hand combat when you have guns, like in the movies, is something only an idiot would do. No one is foolish enough not to use bullets when they can solve the problem.

Batman's expression changed, and he quickly wrapped the cape of his Bat-suit around himself, shielding Nightwing as well.

His cape was bulletproof, but Nightwing only had a bulletproof bodysuit, with his entire head exposed and defenseless. A hit there would mean instant death.

But at the moment the bullets were about to hit, a red cape suddenly appeared before Batman's eyes, as if he had descended from the sky.

Batman soon realized that he had indeed descended from the sky.

Boom—!

The sound of the ceiling shattering and the Impact of bullets merged into one, but no matter what, nothing could cross the line before Clark's man of steel.

That red cape, that blue figure, and that slightly goofy but utterly sunny smile.

He was Superman!
