Chapter 8 - Lord Torden, Chapter 8

As the rays of sunlight bathed the world in golden colours, the bird waved their wings of freedom across the skies, people woke up for the carriage of the second son of the waster family is now home, people looked to see the famous flag of the Waster family, a huge mountain with rivers and mines, representing the riches the family holds in these lands, some applauded, others went by checking it along the way, a few did not care for what come to pass, from the top of it without helmet stood the second son of the Wasters greeting the people, his smile showed how full of himself he was, his armour reflected the sunlight, not a scratch on it, is it luck, or perhaps battle experience.

From the end of the road, right above the castle gates stood Torden watching the crowd, his eyes filled with a cold look that showed sadness and envy, its as if he wished to be the centre of such thing, Torden turned his back once he saw his brother's face, and the smug painted all over it, as if saying, you wish

The carriage went inside the castle as the gates closed in leaving only the dust behind the horses, from it stepped the honour of the family, the famous second son to meet his older brother

"So how are your achievements going lord brother, I heard you only murdered a couple of our knights this time, with this record being an heir to the family is nowhere to be seen even across the horizon," said the little brother

"My knights fought and died as warriors beyond the red sea, but I see yours are as clean as your sword" said lord Torden looking behind his brothers back at his knights, "perhaps what's between the two dangerous greens is just a few frail bandits after all, brother Raymon"

"It is rather my skills, a term that you might not be failure with a strategic mind for battle and my knights are-" said Lord Raymon before his brother cut him saying" I did not know the great lord Raymon, is in such need for a battle strategy against some few heads of bandits that cant write or read put your head into such a challenging state, perhaps your growing skills have come to its end" the look on Raymon's face showed how annoyed he was while Torden smirked in victory

As Raymon wanted to speak for the sake of defending his honour their mother stepped in stopping the argument from going any further

"Now stop it children, be on good terms for the moment, the festival in the kingdom capital of Kazar is very important for the family and its surroundings"

"Oh, don't worry mother, we were talking about the great achievements for lord brother Torden, and how him marrying the daughter of a king will help us all very much" said Raymon trying to continue the argument somehow

His mother's face got serious as she stared into his eyes and said" Don't try to strike knives from beneath the table, I said to stop the argument, anymore and you will be drugging your name into the ground son" he silently walked past and into the house, he would not dare talk back to the lady of house Waster

The mother looked back at her oldest and said in an attempt to make him feel better "don't feel bad, marriage is not an insult"

"But one for the sake of a family tie at my age with my state is" lord Torden said "what will they say in the capital, he couldn't reach up to the lords before him so he was switched"

"It's not like that, don't try to go up to your father's hight, he has no blood to compete against" Lady of house Waster said to her son trying to comfort him while he still looked uncomfortable about his situation, "Remember you can only go up once you fall to the bottom of the pit, what can possibly go worse for you anyway" she said with a smile fixing the clothes on his shoulder

Torden sighs in agreement and goes back inside the house, as he is going beyond the wooden doors, he sees his brother going up to his father with a smile on his face, his father turns back to look at Raymon with no emotion written on his face, "Father, you must've learned about my great accomplishment between the great twin forests" aid Raymon

"You are calling it great I see" replied his father

"Of course it is, no scratch on my knights and- "said Raymon before his father stated "so we want a part for oy killing some bandits? This is the least thing you can do as a part of the family" said the father as Raymon shut his mouth in shock, while Torden shackled from the back

Lord of the waster family, Saron, looked at his son Torden and said, "so I see you've escaped your own little prison from upstairs, so your catlike days went by huh"

"Even a cat needs a walk from time to another" replied lord Torden

"Then walk your full out, we won't be walking for days once we start our march towards the Kingdom capital' said the father as he entered his office

Raymon looked at his brother for a moment and said "see you in the capital" with a smile before he frowned and said "Lord brother" before walking up the stairs to his room

Torden did not think much of it and walked up to the hallway where his room is, looking outside the window at the knights and guards getting ready with the carriages for the travel, from beside him appeared the Master of the walls once more saying "You better get ready, so you won't be the delay for our walk" before walking down stairs with a box to the carriages

When evening struck and everyone was ready, to avoid any arguments, the lady of house waster was in the same carriage as her son Torden, while Lord Saron and Raymon was in the other, towards the River they set their goal and to the capital by the boat they shall sail
