The car rolled into the driveway, and I froze. My thighs were still humming from earlier, my body still shivering at the memory of him, and now… now we had Lila.
She opened the door like she'd been waiting, eyes narrowing instantly. "Wait… something smells weird," she said, nose wrinkled. Her gaze flicked to the backseat like she was hunting a clue.
I tried to stay calm. Play it cool, Maya, I told myself. But my cheeks were burning, and every inch of me was too aware of how soaked and shaky I still was.
"Smells like… what?" Daniel asked casually, turning toward her, voice steady, calm. But I could feel him tense beside me ...protective and dangerous, just the way I love it.
Lila's eyes flicked to the backseat again, then she crossed her arms. "And… that bag?" she said slowly, suspicious. "Maya, you didn't even grab your bag. You said you were going to get it, but—wait, what did you even take with you?"
I froze, fumbling in my brain for an excuse. "Uh… I… I left it there? I didn't need it?" My voice cracked a little, too high-pitched, too flustered.
Lila's eyes sharpened. "Uh-huh. Sure. And that white… whatever is on the seat?" She pointed subtly at the backseat, not saying it aloud, but oh, I knew she knew.
Daniel shifted smoothly, blocking her view without looking like he was. "Lila," he said, calm, measured, but sharp. "It's nothing. Seriously. You're reading too much into things. Chill."
"Chill?" Lila laughed, short and sharp. "Really? Because Maya didn't even take a bag, and… yeah, smells weird. Looks weird. Something's definitely going on."
My heart was pounding in my chest. I wanted to curl up, hide, or melt .... maybe all three. But Daniel? He leaned back, smirked at me, then turned to her like he owned the moment.
"Listen, detective," he said slowly, dangerously smooth, "I'm telling you, it's nothing. Relax. Everything's fine. Go upstairs, do your thing. We've got… adult stuff to handle here."
Lila wasn't letting it go. "Adult stuff? Uh-huh. That's what you think I'm buying? Maya, spill it. What did you do in the car?"
Lila's arms were crossed, sharp gaze drilling into me like she was ready to dissect every thought. "Honestly, Maya… maybe you should just sleep in my room tonight," she said carefully, trying to sound casual but clearly suspicious.
I froze for a second, then slowly turned, my eyes locking onto hers.. And suddenly… enough.
"No," I said, sharp, bold, unapologetic. "Actually… I'm done with this."
Her eyebrows shot up. "Done with what?"
"Done with you acting like I'm some… filthy little thing." I leaned forward, voice low, teasing, dangerous. "If you're going to suspect me of this, really suspect me…" I let my eyes burn into hers, daring her, "then maybe I should just leave. Tonight. Right now."
Her mouth opened, and I could see the shock, the guilt, creeping in.
"I'm serious," I continued, shameless, standing taller. "I don't stay where I'm treated like… dirt. So if your suspicion is stronger than your trust, I'm out."
Lila hesitated, her arms dropping slowly. "Maya… I"
"Exactly," I said, cutting her off, smirk curling my lips. "You know I'm not that. You know you're wrong to even think like that." I let my voice soften slightly, just enough to make her feel it. "And now… maybe you understand why people don't mess with me. Why I take control."
Her cheeks flushed, guilty and sharp, and for the first time, I saw the shift. She'd doubted me… but now she knew she'd gone too far.
I let my smirk linger. "So… you can feel guilty, or you can apologize. Your choice."
She exhaled slowly, finally dropping her arms completely. "Okay… I… I'm sorry, Maya. I shouldn't have"
And right now? The truth is… I don't stay where I'm treated like trash."
She totally felt guilty and with continuous amends to make me up, she said please stay and don't leave..I accepted her apology with coldness and when she left...
Daniel said,"But baby…" His fingers rubbing my ass again, teasing, sending sparks through me. "You're mine. And Lila? She doesn't need to know. Not yet."
