QUOTE....
Bartu grabbed Masal's arm and quickly dragged her down the stairs. When they stepped back onto the streets, the wind was blowing her hair and raindrops were wet on their skin. Bartu took Masal to his own little secret cabin. "Bartu... everything is just beginning, isn't it?" said Masal. "And it's not over yet," said Bartu, that rebellious, determined, and protective look in his eyes. "But don't worry... I will protect you, under all circumstances." Masal laid her body down wearily on Bartu's single bed and soon fell asleep...
Bartu went to the loveseat, sat down, lit a cigarette, and looked at Masal for a long time. It couldn't be possible; he couldn't lose Masal; no one could take Masal from him... "I won't let anything happen to you; no one can take you from me, my Masal," he whispered. As Bartu took one last drag from his cigarette, the fire of anger and fear within him flared even more.
The more he looked at Masal's face, the more he realized how defenseless she was and how she had become the meaning of his own life. He stood up and went to the window. The rain had picked up, and the wind was beating on the roof of the hut. Bartu clenched his fists. "I have to do this," he thought to himself. "I will burn everything to protect her." He turned his head for a moment and looked at Masal again. Masal's peaceful breathing seemed to echo in the room.
That sound sank into Bartu's heart like a heavy oath. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and quickly dialed a few numbers. His tone hardened: "Everything will be ready by tomorrow morning. If anyone touches Masal...
I will bring the world down on them." Masal stirred slightly, a sleepy murmur escaping his lips: "Bartu..." Bartu hung up the phone and sat quietly next to the bed. He reached for Masal's hair and closed his eyes. "No matter what, we will survive this storm, my Masal. I would risk anything for you."
