Flynn doesn't show himself before the Church members, as he looks suspicious. Mainly because of his robe, his unique green eyes matched with blonde hair, and barely hidden daggers at his sides.
Meanwhile Connor stands by Zane, terrified, but not showing it. This is due to Zane's presence, he knows that if he shows any weakness... Actually he isn't sure what'll happen, but it won't be pleasant. That is clear based on the threatening mana swarming around Zane.
Mana, the source of power in this world. Mages aren't considered human, just tools, slaves, servants, objects. However mana cannot be seen, only used... And sometimes sensed if you're powerful enough. But Connor can simply see it, different colours that brighten, or dim, his world. With each colour is a different element, a different emotion... And despite not all people being able to use mana, everyone still has a mana core, just to the right of their hearts.
Currently Zane's mana core is enveloped in darkness, with more mana swirling around it. And this terrifies Connor. It looks like sludge... Disgusting, evil, and intense.
Zane continues to preach to the believers, who never take their eyes off Connor, although some still listen to the sermon. Zane finishes the sermon of nicely, with a closing. "Thank you, Connor White, god of the Church of Vey. And I'm so glad you'll be living in our building from now on. I hope it'll suit your needs..."
Connor tenses up ever so slightly. Then he nods nervously. "Yes... Zane."
The people gawk at him. Then one by one they leave.
Zane turns to Connor upon everyone's exit. "You did well... I'm surprised you barely reacted... Visibly at least. I could sense your fear though."
Connor just wants to go back to life a few days ago... Or at the very least he wants to curl up on his thin mattress and hug his puppy. Which, come to think of it, he hasn't even paid attention to yet, let alone looked at it. He was far too deep in despair to bother...
Zane calls for Flynn to escort Connor back to his room. And Flynn does as he's told.
"That same indifferent expression... Does he not feel anything for me? Does he not care about how I'm being imprisoned in this Church?" Connor thinks as he stares at Flynn's face. They don't stop walking until they reach Connor's room.
Flynn speaks up, "Zane told me to tell you that if the dog runs out of food or water to alert me. If you get hungry- well you'll be feed daily. And the project is postponed."
Connor pauses as he enters his room alone. "Wait- What project?"
Before he could even finish his sentence, Flynn locks the door from the outside and walks away.
Connor sits on his mattress and clicks his tongue. Which wakes up the puppy, and it walks over to him.
It's a small, scruffy, and black puppy, with short legs, and a long body, a thin, outstretched tail, and folded ears.Probably still only a month or two old. It's eyes are dark brown, a calming chocolate colour...
"This room stinks..." Oh. That's why... The dog must've made a mess. "What am I supposed to do about that, I mean seriously..."
Connor sighs, he'll probably deal with it later. "I'll name you... Coco? I mean you remind me of that colour... Even your mana is brown, besides you're a girl, so Coco sounds fine. I'll put that collar on you now, is that okay?"
Coco, seemingly understanding his words, tilts her head. Then she walks over to him with the collar in her mouth.
Connor, slightly shocked, but pleased by how obedient and smart she is, Stokes her fur and attaches the collar. "You're really smart, aren't you, little Coco?"
Connor sleeps for a while before he hears his door creak open in the middle of the night.
