Kavya's POV:
Finally, the work is done. It was a really busy day today. I didn't even have time to do my homework. I looked at my watch, 7:45. I think I have time to read a chapter. I took one book I was reading from the library, The Miraculous Tales of Seven Knights
"You are done. I guess!" I heard a sound.
I shifted my gaze in the direction of the voice. There stood Rishi, wearing an apron, as he did dusting work. He has such charming looks, someone who is perfect for modeling . It's difficult to resist his green eyes, which shine like stars. Why is he working here? The way he has maintained himself doesn't suggest he is poor enough to do a part-time job.
"Hey, you owe me an explanation. Remember?" I said, making him burst out into laughter.
"You are really curious. Aren't you?"
"I just want to make sure where I have seen. Is there something wrong with it?" I said with a questionable tone.
"No-no, there is nothing wrong"
He came closer and sat next to me.
"I once visited your home" he said.
"Huh!". Why don't I remember him then?
"You might not remember me because our meeting was very brief and we didn't even introduce ourselves", he said.
"I am not getting anything. Can you explain to me, please?"
"It's about 2 years back when your mom was searching for a scholarship to get you admitted into SVA. My mother helped her to get contacts and complete the paperwork". He explained.
"Yeah, I remember a lady used to visit us for admission purposes, but I never saw you", I asked with curiosity.
"That was the chilly day when I visited your home, and you were preparing tea in the kitchen."
"Oh, that boy who was holding the file was you?"
"yup"
"That's why my mother asked me to make 3 cup tea, but by the time I made it, you were gone, and I had to drink it, although I don't like tea"
He giggled, "Sorry for that, but I was only there to deliver the file, I have urgent work to go for"
"That's ok. But I didn't show up that day. How do you recognise my face?" I asked with concern.
"Actually", he stopped for a moment, making my heartbeat rise ", my mom wanted me to watch over you until you get admission successfully in SVA. Your mother's wish was to see you studying over there and..." he staggered a bit ", after her death, we tried to contact you, but your home was closed for months"
I remember after my mother died, I lived for four months with my mother's sister. Trying to heal before coming back.
"No matter that I failed to help you. The good thing is that you made it to join SVA, Miss Jain." He said with pride.
I chuckled, "Thanks for your concern"
"How about you? What're you doing?" I asked
"I completed my 12th grade this year, and I am currently preparing for the exam to get into college next year", he replied.
"Then why are you working here? You should be focused on your goal," I asked with concern.
" I want to be financially independent, at least for my own expenses"
"No argument with that. It's important," I said.
"Aren't you two going home?" I heard an authoritative voice. It was Aunt Maya.
I immediately looked at my watch, 8:40.
Shitt, time flew so fast, I should be at home by this time.
I ran to take my bag and hushed out without saying goodbye properly.
"Text me once you get home", I heard Aunt scream from back.
I had no choice but to drive like an Aeroplan, although it's not safe to stay out this late, but it feels really peaceful out here.
The silent roads under the moonlight.
