Chapter 5 - Son Of Derick Storm

Clara stared at Lucas. She wasn't expecting him to sign the papers. She thought he would beg, as he usually does whenever she threatens him with divorce.

"So he finally decided to sign the papers, huh?" Clara thought inwardly.

After Lucas finished signing the divorce papers, she yanked them off the table. "Be assured, I will never give you even a dime, since you signed the divorce papers."

Lucas' silence made Clara's senses begin to reset. It was now that she started having these sudden feelings that all that Lucas was saying wasn't lies.

"Where the hell is my daughter?" she asked. But once again, silence was what Lucas offered.

Clara went over to Amanda's room but couldn't find her. She came back to Lucas and then dragged him by the shirt. "You motherfucker, where the hell is my daughter?"

Lucas' gaze lifted. "She's dead, and I swear I will make sure you pay."

Before Lucas could realize it, Clara landed a series of slaps on his face. "How dare you say that to my face?"

She then picked up her phone and dialed Amanda's number. But the phone rang in Lucas's pocket.

"What?" Clara raised a brow, then dipped her hands into Lucas's pocket and pulled out the phone. "What are you doing with Amanda's phone? Where is Amanda? What have you done with Amanda?"

Lucas remained silent. Clara then pushed Lucas to the ground and ordered her butler to restrain him. She dialed the police number, then placed a call.

After reporting the situation to the police, she shifted her gaze to her butler. "Jason, make sure you restrain him tightly to the ground; the police will be here soon."

Jason nodded firmly. "Yes, ma'am."

Within a few minutes, the police could be seen coming into the mansion, and without a word, they took Lucas away and locked him behind bars.

The police questioned Lucas about everything that happened. He explained to them, and after investigating and finding out all that had happened was true, they had no choice but to let Lucas go, but before that, they requested that Lucas have some words with Clara.

"How did this happen? Why didn't you tell me?" Clara asked, without shame.

Lucas remained silent, without giving a word.

"You'd better have answers to tell my family member, because you won't get away with killing my daughter."

The words from Clara cut deep into Lucas; he felt an intense rage surging within him. Even after seeing the clear proof that Amanda had died because of her insolent attitude, Clara still decided to put the blame on him.

Lucas stood up. "I'm done with this conversation."

He intended to get another house and live alone. Though his ambition still remains certain, he must make sure Clara pays.

Lucas walked out of the police station. The police tried to talk to him, but he refused to give them a hearing.

Walking down the street, a car drove and parked in front of Lucas, blocking his path. And a man walked out of the car; he got closer to Lucas and then bowed his head.

"Sorry, sir, it's urgent; I have to take you to Mr. Derick now. He wants to see you."

Lucas stared at the man, dumbfounded. The most annoying part about the man in front of Lucas, which had made it difficult for him to believe what he was saying, was that, he didn't only appear strange, but look like an assassin, and most of all claimed to be sent by Derick.

"Could he be sent by Clara to come kidnap me?" Lucas thought inwardly before rejecting. "I am not interested; even if Derick wanted to reach out to me, he would have used another means, probably through text."

"He doesn't have time for that, sir," the man sighed deeply. "Mr. Derick is dying; that's why he would like to see you. He believes you are his son and wants to transfer his entire ownership to you."

After hearing this, Lucas somehow felt like believing the man. Though he has doubts, and suspicion flickered across his mind.

"Where is he?" Lucas asked.

"Thank you, sir, for believing my words. He's at his residential mansion. I can take you there. All you need to do is get into the car."

The man gestured to the car he had parked just a few distance away from Lucas.

Lucas got into the car, and so they drove away. Some minutes later, the car arrived at a specific mansion.

The mansion looked high-class, beaming intensely with perfection. The building was as though made from heaven. Security could be seen from all angles, as if they were guiding the president of the United States. Though Derick's wealth is unmatched, the need for securities is high.

Lucas was led to a specific room, where he saw Derick storm, lying on the bed. He breathed heavily as he tried to speak.

Lucas couldn't hear what Derick was saying, so he moved closer.

"I know I'm not mistaken; it's definitely you, my long-lost son. I have less time to spend on earth. And I have passed all my will to you, you now own all my wealth, my companies, everything I had built over the years is definitely yours."

Lucas never believed he would ever meet his biological father. He had also thought that the asshole that he had grown up with was his biological father.

Lucas softly grabbed Derick Storm's hands, and in that moment, he felt a glimpse of fatherly love smoothly carving into his heart.

Derick smiled at him. "Sorry for being absent throughout your childhood as a father. I always have regrets for that; every second I think about it. I love you, Lucas, and I want you to continue my legacy.

After saying these words. Derick passed away. Lucas saw how his eyes slowly closed, and he had a sudden urge to save his father, but the clear truth was that he couldn't.

He shifted his gaze to the man who had brought him to the mansion. "Why aren't you helping him? Let's take him to the hospital; maybe we could have a chance at saving his life."

Lucas desperately spoke, but the man shook his head, and tears streamed down his cheeks. "I wish we could save his life, but that's impossible."
