Chapter 3: Erin's History

Another beautiful day began under the blessings of Goddess Syrial. The radiant sun shone over the city of Elandor—a city soon to witness the birth of a blessed hero.

Erin was born with the goddess's blessing into a noble family of high status and power. His birth filled his home with joy and laughter. The family of Erin was well-known throughout Elandor, and to celebrate his arrival, a grand feast was held in the city hall.

Erin's father was a respected noble, honored even by the Lord of Elandor himself. The feast was a magnificent event worthy of their name. Music echoed, dancers twirled, and laughter filled the hall. The Lord of Elandor, being the guest of honor, gave a speech that inspired every soul in attendance. It was a night of joy, of pride, and of hope for a bright future.

Years passed, and Erin grew into a bright and curious child. At the age of ten, his father took him to receive the official blessings of the goddess. During the ceremony, Erin's appraisal shocked everyone—his divine affinity and heroic potential surpassed all expectations. Word of a new hero spread throughout Elandor like wildfire.

His family was proud beyond words. From that day on, Erin trained alongside his father, who was a retired knight, to become stronger and more skilled. As he grew, one dream took root deep in his heart: to defeat the Demon Lord and free the world from the terror of darkness.

Years of hard work followed. When the time came for the academy entrance exams, Erin stunned everyone once again. His talent shattered records—he became the youngest student ever accepted into Elandor's most prestigious academy.

There, Erin studied tirelessly and trained harder than anyone else. His father's harsh but loving guidance molded him into a warrior of both strength and discipline.

One day, the academy announced a monster hunt for new students—a real test of courage and teamwork. The chosen students, including Erin, would travel deep into the monster-infested woods. Excitement and nervousness filled the air.

Before leaving, Erin's father gifted him a finely crafted sword—a symbol of his faith in his son. Erin cherished it dearly and departed with his classmates, his heart full of light and hope.

The journey began peacefully. The teachers encouraged the students to stay alert and expect the unexpected. But soon, danger arrived. Their carriage was ambushed by a group of bandits.

Panic spread among the students, yet the teachers stood firm, defending them bravely. After a fierce fight, the bandits were defeated—some captured, others fleeing into the shadows. Exhausted but safe, the group set up camp to rest. The scent of cooked food eased their fear, and under the starry sky, they finally slept.

Days later, as they continued toward their destination, a village came into view. But what awaited them was not peace—it was horror.

The once-lively village lay in ruins. Homes were burned, bodies scattered across the ground. The stench of death filled the air. Erin fell to his knees, trembling, his stomach twisting as he threw up.

"What… what is this?" he whispered, voice breaking.

The teachers were speechless. "Bandits… perhaps," one muttered, though none truly believed it.

The group buried the dead, offered prayers, and sent word back to Elandor. Yet, even after leaving the village, the sight of the devastation haunted them.

When they resumed their mission, Erin tried to stay focused, but unease lingered. During one hunt, a massive beast appeared before him. His body froze; his mind went blank.

The teacher rushed in, slaying the monster. "Stay alert! If you can't fight, fall back!" he shouted.

Erin's hands shook as he gripped his sword. But slowly, he stood again. With each strike, with each monster he faced, his fear began to fade—replaced by determination.

After hours of battle, the teachers ordered everyone to rest. While others ate, Erin's eyes caught something strange in the distance—a swirling black pit, pulsing with dark energy.

He stepped toward it, drawn by a force he couldn't understand. But before he could reach it, the teachers stopped him. Reluctantly, he turned back.

When they returned to Elandor, all seemed calm again—but Erin couldn't forget. The burned village, the dark pit—it all haunted his dreams. Something deep inside him whispered that the pit was calling to him.

Days later, unable to resist the pull, Erin made a fateful decision. Gathering a few of his most talented classmates, he prepared to return to the woods.

What is it that calls to Erin from the shadows? Curiosity… or destiny itself? Find out in the next chapter.
