Chapter 3 - Arkin "THE DESPAIRED SOUL"

> In a world painted with light and joy, despair always lingers in the shadows.

From that despair, kings of evil are born.

Arkin walks a tragic road where no hand reaches for him — only darkness welcomes his soul.

As he surrenders to rage and grief, one question remains:

Will he rise as a lord of evil… or be devoured by the abyss within?

Chapter 3: Erin's History

Another radiant day dawned over Elandor, bathed in the warm blessings of Goddess Syrial. The city, shimmering with marble and sunlight, seemed unaware that it would soon witness the rise of a hero.

Erin was born into a noble family, blessed directly by the goddess herself. Joy and laughter filled their halls, and the city celebrated his arrival with a grand feast at the city hall. Music soared, dancers twirled, and the Lord of Elandor himself delivered a speech that inspired every soul present. That night, hope and pride intertwined, marking the beginning of a remarkable life.

As Erin grew, so did his extraordinary potential. At the age of ten, he underwent the official blessing ceremony. When the priests assessed him, the entire hall fell silent in awe—Erin's divine affinity surpassed all expectations. Tales of this prodigious child spread through the city like wildfire.

Under the watchful eye of his father, a retired knight of unparalleled skill, Erin trained relentlessly. Each swing of the sword, each lesson in strategy, built the foundation for a dream he nurtured from childhood: to defeat the Demon Lord and bring light to a world shadowed by darkness.

Years passed, and Erin's talents only grew. When the academy exams arrived, he shattered every record, becoming the youngest student ever admitted to Elandor's most prestigious institution. There, he honed his body, mind, and spirit, guided by his father's harsh yet loving discipline.

One day, the academy announced a real-world test: a monster hunt for new students. Chosen participants would face the dangers of the forest, testing their courage and teamwork. Before departing, Erin's father entrusted him with a finely crafted sword, a symbol of faith and expectation. Erin accepted it with gratitude, his heart brimming with hope.

The journey began under calm skies, but peace never lasts long in a world edged with darkness. Soon, bandits ambushed their carriage. Panic erupted among the students, yet the teachers defended them with unwavering resolve. After a fierce skirmish, the attackers were defeated or scattered, leaving exhaustion in their wake. That night, under a blanket of stars, Erin and his companions finally rested.

Days later, the group reached a village—but what greeted them was horror. Homes were burned, bodies strewn across the streets, the stench of death thick in the air. Erin fell to his knees, trembling, his stomach twisting with nausea.

"What… what is this?" he whispered, voice cracking.

Even the teachers, hardened and experienced, were silent. Burial rituals were performed, prayers offered, and reports sent to Elandor, but Erin could not shake the image from his mind.

During a subsequent hunt, Erin faced a massive beast. His body froze, mind blank. The teacher struck it down with precision, shouting, "Stay alert! If you can't fight, fall back!" Erin's hands shook around his sword. Slowly, he steadied himself. Each battle thereafter, each monster faced, forged his fear into determination.

After hours of relentless struggle, the group finally rested. While others ate, Erin's gaze caught a swirling black pit in the distance, pulsing with unnatural energy. Something called to him—an invisible force pulling at his very soul. Before he could approach, his teachers intervened. Reluctantly, he turned away.

Back in Elandor, calm returned—but Erin's dreams remained haunted by fire-scorched villages and that dark, beckoning pit. A voice deep inside whispered relentlessly. Days later, unable to resist, Erin gathered a few of his most skilled classmates. Together, they prepared to return to the woods.

What awaits Erin in the shadows? Destiny, or something far darker?

The next chapter will reveal the answer.
