Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Two Sides of Things

After ditching the loudmouthed Gold Ship, Fujiwara Shirayuki went to the faculty office. It was hard to believe that a university graduate like her had to go back to middle school.

It wasn't a big deal. Back when she was studying for the central trainer license exam, she had studied from 7 AM to 9 PM, basically reading books all day except for eating and sleeping. That period was truly the darkest time in her life.

Fortunately, she persevered thanks to her dedication to Horse Girls.

Compared to that, middle school was practically a vacation.

Besides, how could simple school knowledge possibly challenge a brain that had been tempered by fire? She could easily get into the top ranks of the grade.

Then, others would have to look at her with a hint of respect.

Once Shirayuki became a respected figure, wouldn't students be lining up to join her team?

That's right, this was the idol effect.

Entering the office, Shirayuki found the teacher with braided hair and a gentle, motherly demeanor, Ine-sensei.

She was also Meisho Doto's homeroom teacher.

"Ine-sensei," Shirayuki called out her name naturally.

The teacher turned, her soft, light purple eyes meeting hers.

"Ah, you must be the transfer student."

"Yes, my name is Fujiwara Shirayuki."

"Have you received your textbooks and everything?"

"Yes, I have."

"And you've been told your class schedule?"

"Yes."

As they spoke, Ine-sensei glanced behind Shirayuki. "Isn't Trainer Chiya with you?"

"He... had some urgent matters to attend to."

"I see." Ine-sensei nodded. "I was hoping to see him... well, in that case, come with me, Fujiwara Shirayuki-san. You'll introduce yourself to the class. There's an empty seat at the front of the classroom; you can sit there."

"The front?"

"Yes... is there a problem?"

"No."

But the front row is not ideal for slacking off.

Besides, transfer students like me are usually supposed to get the back row by the window. That way, I can gaze at the sky at a 45-degree angle during class, showing everyone that I have a deep and mysterious backstory.

In reality, my background is completely clean. I have no story whatsoever!

Grumbling internally, Shirayuki followed the teacher out of the office.

"I'll go in first. Please wait a moment, Shirayuki-san."

Ine-sensei was going to give a little introduction first.

Left alone, Shirayuki looked at her reflection in the hallway window.

According to game logic, she should first establish the image of a gentle and elegant lady to the classmates. Once their affection levels were up, she could start recruiting for the team.

Harmony, friendship, mutual help—she would pile on all the positive traits.

"Everyone."

The teacher's voice came from inside.

"Today, we have a new student joining us. She was previously a student at a regular school and is new to a Horse Girl academy. I hope you will all get along well with her."

Realizing the time was right, Shirayuki pushed open the door and walked inside.

Although she wasn't a lady, and strictly speaking, not even entirely female—only half a one—she had seen a thing or two. Chiya greatly admired dignified and virtuous people, with Hayakawa Tazuna being a prime example.

Recalling Tazuna's demeanor, Shirayuki stood on the podium, a beautiful curve on her lips as she smiled at the students.

"Hello everyone, I'm Fujiwara Shirayuki, the new student in this class. I previously attended a regular school. I love Horse Girls very much. Because of this love, I became a devoted fan, and because of this love, I became one of them. So, in the future, I hope to run with all of you on this glorious racetrack."

With that, Shirayuki bowed her head. When she looked up again, the classroom erupted in applause.

"Well said, Shirayuki-san!"

Meisho Doto clapped with a moved expression.

"Well... for a Horse Girl to say she likes Horse Girls sounds a bit odd, but it's strangely heartwarming," a Horse Girl with purple eyes and the air of a young lady commented calmly, flicking her hair.

"It seems our class has gained another lovely white swan. Could it be that she came here to meet me? Very well, let us perform Ludwig's symphony together," a gorgeously dressed girl with a purple crown stood up and spoke in a dramatic tone.

The response isn't bad.

Listening to the comments, Shirayuki secretly sighed in relief. She had passed the first hurdle.

"Alright, Fujiwara Shirayuki-san, you can sit there."

The teacher pointed to an empty seat in the second row by the window.

So close! That's way too close to the podium!

With ten thousand objections in her heart, Shirayuki still walked over with a smile.

The next time they changed seats, she would fight to the death for a spot in the back.

As she reached her seat and put down her bag, the Horse Girl next to her immediately leaned over.

"Hello, Fujiwara Shirayuki-san. My name is Special Week. It's nice to meet you."

A cute girl with a brown bob cut extended her hand, her large, beautiful purple eyes looking at her.

"Hello, Special Week-san."

Actually, even if she didn't give her name, Shirayuki recognized most of the class. She had become a frequent visitor to this classroom while looking for the often-late Meisho Doto.

"Shirayuki-san, I also transferred here not too long ago," Special Week whispered, covering her mouth. "So let's get along well as fellow transfer students."

"I see. You're right, let's look out for each other."

"Great! Then, do you want to get something to eat together later?" Special Week's eyes lit up, surprised at how easygoing Shirayuki was.

"Special Week." Ine-sensei placed a book on her head. "It's still morning, and you're already talking about food. Are you not planning on paying attention in class?"

"Eek! No, no, of course I'll pay attention! I love class!" Special Week said with a goofy voice.

In stark contrast to the cheerful atmosphere in the classroom, the Disciplinary Committee room was dimly lit, with a single desk lamp shining directly into Fujiwara Chiya's eyes.

"Alright, talk. What did you do?"

The strong backlight made it impossible for Chiya to see the person behind the lamp, only a vague silhouette.

"He attempted to molest a student," Sakura Bakushin O answered from the doorway.

"Oh? Quite bold, aren't we."

A sharp smack was heard, like a ruler hitting a hand, and Chiya flinched.

"You'd better have a good explanation, Trainer Chiya."

With a clatter, a bowl of katsudon was placed on the table.

The light shifted, and a beautiful, sharp-featured face appeared before him.
