Chapter 64 - Chapter 64: The Rising Human Level Index of Universe 7

The moment those words left Vados's lips

BOOM!

A jolt of shock ran through Champa's chest.

Kusu, the eldest among all the Angels, had personally spoken so highly of the new candidate for God of Destruction in Universe 7.

That child must truly be something extraordinary!

"But why?! Beerus is already that strong—why does he get to take in such a gifted disciple too?!"

The veins on Champa's forehead bulged as anger flared within him.

"..."

Vados could only stare, speechless. What kind of logic was that?

So, because Beerus was strong, he wasn't allowed to take in someone equally strong as a disciple?

"I don't believe it! That bag of bones loves nothing more than sleeping all day—how could he possibly have..."

Champa roared, his voice echoing across the Destruction Realm.

Then suddenly

"Lord Champa! The Human Level Index of Universe 7 has changed!"

Vados's eyes caught something. With a wave of her staff, she projected a cosmic chart and began scanning the updated rankings.

"What?!"

Champa's expression twisted in alarm.

The Human Level Index was a crucial metric used to gauge the overall development and strength of a universe. A universe's rank was closely tied to it.

Previously, Universe 6 was ranked 10th, while Universe 7 trailed just behind at 11th.

Champa had always thought that ranking was a bit low for his universe—but as long as it stayed above Beerus's, he didn't really mind.

"What kind of change? Did it rise or fall?" Champa clenched his fists tight.

The rankings, as they stood, were perfect.

As long as Universe 6 remained ahead, he could keep mocking Beerus forever.

But if Universe 7's rank went up…

Then he'd be the one getting mocked next!

Just thinking about that made his skin crawl.

Of course, even worse than seeing Universe 7's rank rise… would be watching it fall too far.

If Universe 7 sank to the very bottom—Zeno might erase it entirely!

"Damn it!!"

"What the hell happened over there?!"

Champa was growing anxious.

Then, after a moment of scanning, Vados finally spoke in astonishment

"Lord Champa, the Human Level Index of Universe 7 has risen from 3.18 to 3.20!"

At first glance, an increase of 0.02 might seem insignificant.

But considering that the index had started from zero and had taken countless eons to reach 3.18—an increase of even 0.02 in such a short time was monumental!

Sure enough

"It rose by 0.02?"

Relief washed through Champa that Universe 7 hadn't dropped lower… but that relief quickly turned into frustration.

"What did that guy do?!"

"Don't tell me he went mad and wiped out all the lower civilizations, leaving only mid and high-level ones standing?!"

The Human Level Index essentially measured the average development level of intelligent life in a universe.

And there was a quick—but horrifying—way to raise it.

Exactly as Champa had said: by erasing low-level civilizations and keeping only advanced ones.

But doing so would shatter the universe's very foundation, leaving it with no future.

"No way—I have to see what that guy's been up to!"

Though Champa and Beerus bickered constantly, they were still brothers. He couldn't just sit back and ignore it.

"Vados! Bring my Dongdong bird eggs—we're heading to Universe 7!"

The slouchy, gluttonous cat from moments ago was gone.

Now, a true God of Destruction stood before her—his expression grave, his presence radiating a terrifying divine pressure.

"Yes, my lord!"

Under normal circumstances, Vados might have teased him or offered a counterpoint.

But even she felt uneasy this time.

After all… her brother Whis was in Universe 7 too.

Vados lifted her staff.

A Transport Cube unfolded around them, its surface rippling like glass.

In the next instant

The cube shot across space as a streak of divine light and vanished.

Universe 7 — The Sacred World of the Kais

Endless meadows. Azure skies. Lakes so clear you could see the bottom.

The scenery here was breathtaking.

At the very center of this world stood a sacred lake—once the resting place of the Z Sword.

But a month ago, Gran had shattered that ancient blade, releasing the Old Kai sealed within it.

Now, beside that same lake, a small boy lay fast asleep on a reclining beach chair.

That boy was Gran.

Originally, Gran had come to the Sacred World of the Kais seeking the Old Kai's wisdom—to confirm whether the Super Saiyan 4 path he pursued was truly valid.

The Old Kai had analyzed his reasoning carefully… and affirmed it was indeed correct.

After that, Gran sought guidance from Whis about his next stage of training.

But Whis had only smiled and said, "You've pushed yourself long enough. Rest for a while before you continue."

Now, a full month later, Gran still hadn't woken.

Yet the tension once etched on his young face was gone, replaced with calm serenity.

All the fatigue he had built up over the past three years had finally melted away.

Suddenly

Beerus, Old Kai, Shin, and Kibito appeared beside the lake.

"He's still asleep?" Beerus asked, glancing at Whis.

"Not for much longer," Whis replied softly, eyes on Gran.

Beerus and the others turned their gaze toward the boy as well.

Even without words, they could feel it—Gran's energy was stable and pure, growing stronger with every breath.

After a moment, Whis smiled faintly.

"Lord Beerus, you've certainly made quite the commotion this time," he said. "The Human Level Index jumped by 0.02!"

Indeed, during Gran's slumber, Beerus hadn't been idle.

To eliminate the risk of erasure by Zeno, Beerus had once again joined forces with the Old Kai to manage Universe 7.

The collaboration between the strongest God of Destruction and the oldest Supreme Kai had produced immediate results—raising the universe's index by 0.02 almost overnight.

Even Whis had been impressed.

Of course, he also knew the real reason for that sudden leap

Beerus had been asleep for most of these past eras, and the Old Kai had been sealed away. Universe 7 had essentially been running on autopilot.

No—It was even worse than that.

Shin had spent those years creating countless useless planets, further dragging the universe's level down.

That was why the restoration effort between Beerus and the Old Kai had produced such a dramatic result.

"This commotion won't go unnoticed," the Old Kai muttered anxiously. "Other universes are bound to pay attention."

"Let them," Beerus said with a dismissive snort.

"Beerus, don't you realize how many Gods of Destruction can't stand you?" the Old Kai shot back. "If they see Universe 7 suddenly improving, what if they decide to cause trouble?"

Beerus had never been popular among the other Destroyers. Even without the infamous "hide-and-seek incident," he already had a reputation for being difficult.

And with that incident on top of it… every Destroyer in existence despised him.

If they saw a chance to drag him down, they wouldn't hesitate.

"They wouldn't dare."

A purple aura flickered around Beerus, his eyes narrowing as divine energy rumbled through the air.

"Back then, they all ganged up on me—and I still stood till the end. You think I'm scared of them now?"

"..."

The Old Kai twitched.

Yeah… Beerus really was that kind of guy.

Annoying beyond belief—but terrifyingly powerful.

Even when surrounded and beaten by every other Destroyer, he'd still been the last one standing.

"Just focus on your duties as Supreme Kais," Beerus said coldly. "Leave the rest to me. I'll handle anyone who tries to interfere."

"Yes, Lord Beerus," both the Old Kai and Shin said at once.

Then suddenly

Beerus and Whis both froze, their gazes shooting skyward.

They could feel it.

"They're coming…" Beerus muttered, his expression tightening.
