Chapter 32 - Chapter 32 - What Were You Doing

Looking at the extremely dangerous man in front of her, Jennifer Mitchell suppressed her inner shock and said, "Some things can't be explained in a short while. How about having dinner together tonight?"

This was the first time Jennifer Mitchell invited a man to dinner.

In her opinion, her appearance had virtually no resistance against men.

Not only in the police station, but many heirs in Brooksdale lined up to invite her to dinner, but she ruthlessly rejected them all.

Because none of those men had anything that interested her, but David Johnson did.

To Jennifer Mitchell, whether the Hernandez Family father and son were dealt with by David no longer mattered; she just wanted to know the secret of David's disappearance for five years.

Five years ago, why did he survive after falling from such a great height into Deepwater Lake?

Where did he go in those five years, and where did he acquire this terrifying cultivation?

"No need, I promised my landlord I'd go back for dinner tonight."

After speaking, I didn't wait for Jennifer Mitchell to react and directly brushed past her.

To me, even if Jennifer was a beauty, so what?

Should I, David Johnson, succumb to flattery like other men?

What a joke!

I would one day stand at the pinnacle of Eldoria, looking down on these people.

At that time, what would this woman even amount to?

Nothing more than a leaf on the Hudson River.

Cystal Mitchell, upon receiving David's reply, was like she was petrified.

She never expected David would actually refuse!

And refused without any room for negotiation!

Was it necessary?

And the landlord called him for dinner?

As a police flower of the Brooksdale police station, could she not even compare to a landlord?

David, are you blind? Can't you see my beauty?

At the moment, Jennifer Mitchell was almost ready to explode with anger. When had she ever humbly invited anyone to dinner?

If you don't want to go, that's fine, but why bring up the landlord?

This is simply an insult to her!

"David, you stop right there!" Jennifer Mitchell stomped her feet in anger, but I left without even turning my head, as if she was air.

...

Half an hour later.

The Grandview Apartments.

I arrived in the kitchen with medicinal herbs while Sarah Moore was still asleep, so I tightly closed the kitchen door.

With things like alchemy, if Sarah found out, I really wouldn't know how to explain it; she'd probably nag me again about being practical.

I glanced at the surrounding equipment, feeling a bit of a headache.

It's a pity I didn't bring the old man's alchemy furnace, otherwise, everything would be much easier. For now, I could only make do with these cooking pots and pans.

Although the effect was somewhat limited, it should be more than sufficient to treat Samuel Thompson.

"Big cities do have their drawbacks," I lamented.

Without saying much, I turned on the induction cooker to the highest setting and then placed the herbs in it in order.

The induction cooker was merely for heating; the real refining still required the True Qi from the depths of my Dantian.

Very soon, the pot began to boil, but I knew well that I had to refine the herbs to a thick consistency to count as successful.

An hour passed.

The herbs in the pot had mostly melted, and beads of sweat the size of beans were dripping from my forehead.

The depletion rate of True Qi was accelerating.

"Keep going..."

After another hour, the pot was about to burn through, and the herbs, gradually condensing from a sticky substance, finally dispersed to form five somewhat irregular elixirs.

"Only five, huh, well, it's not bad... Mainly because this alchemy furnace is no good. I must find a way to get a proper alchemy furnace nearby; otherwise, even if Larry Martin' batch of herbs arrives, it's still tough to refine, can't use the kitchen's induction cooker every time."

I looked at the now burnt-through pot and almost broken induction cooker, sighing heavily.

I needed to quickly buy a new pot and induction cooker, or there'd be trouble once Sarah woke up.

I casually found an empty water bottle to store the five pills and was just about to open the door when I noticed Sarah was already standing at the doorway, eavesdropping with her ear pressed to the door.

Sarah gave a slightly embarrassed cough when she saw me coming out and sneakily peeked inside.

"What are you doing locked in the kitchen alone in broad daylight? Doing something loud? Eh, what's that smell?"

I smiled, blocking the doorway, and explained, "Nothing, just boiling some herbs for a drink..."

Sarah looked me up and down, concerned, "You're hurt? When did this happen?"

Finishing her words, she leaned slightly, entering the kitchen directly.

When she saw everything inside the kitchen, she was stunned.

Is this brewing herbs?

This kitchen looks like a battlefield!

The crucial part is, the bottom of the pot was actually through!

Although she's never brewed herbs, it's not supposed to ruin the pot bottom like this.

"What were you doing?" Sarah had just asked when she noticed out of the corner of her eye a small brown pill.

Because it was too small, David hadn't noticed it himself.

Sarah picked up the pill and sniffed it, the rich aroma drifting up, truly like an elixir from TV.

She rolled her eyes at me, saying, "Is this what you've been concocting in the kitchen all afternoon? It isn't some poison, is it?"

Suddenly, she thought of the formula for the Basic Youth Pill that David had, although she didn't know how he got it, the technical department people verified it was real.

She instinctively guessed, widening her eyes, "Are you refining pills here in my kitchen... I think you're seriously unwell, could this be that Basic Youth Pill?"

I shook my head. Since I'd been discovered, I could only be honest, "These are just ordinary elixirs, they won't beautify, but eating them won't cause any harm either. Some ailments might be eliminated immediately, for major illnesses, though, you might need a few more. I'm planning to find a good alchemy furnace in a few days, then I'll refine some for you. This one's potency is too weak, just throw it away."

Sarah was thoroughly exasperated.

Sure enough, this guy is still lost in some martial arts world.

A few days ago, he claimed to be a Divine Doctor, and now he's making himself out to be an Alchemist.

Can't you be a bit more realistic?

Too childish!

Goodness, Sarah was really going crazy, where in the world are there any immortal pills, it's all nonsense!

Indeed, David did possess the formula, a treasure passed down from his ancestors, with some scientific basis.

But refining elixirs seemed a bit exaggerated.

As for the elixir being able to immediately cure some ailments, Sarah didn't believe it at all. If such amazing things existed, what would hospitals be for?

"Are you free tomorrow? I'll schedule an appointment with a psychologist for you later; you can't continue like this, it's very dangerous," Sarah said worriedly.

I didn't want to argue with Sarah anymore. No one would believe this stuff.

I turned and headed out: "I'm going to buy a pot. As for this elixir, keep it if you want, otherwise just throw it away."
