Getting my mother transferred to the private hospital happened faster than I expected, all thanks to Lorena's connections.
My mother squeezed my hand with that familiar worried look in her eyes. "Dahlia, you know Cobb has always been good to you. He rushed over the moment he heard about my condition and took care of all the transfer arrangements. But these private facilities must cost a fortune, don't they?"
"Mom, your only job right now is to focus on recovery. Nothing else matters," I told her firmly.
For six long years, my mother truly believed Cobb had been this generous, caring boyfriend who provided everything for me. She even convinced herself that the house with my name on the deed was his thoughtful gift to me.
The reality was far different. Throughout our entire relationship, Cobb never gave me anything that truly mattered to me. Instead, he expected me to sell that same house and use the proceeds to buy his mother an expensive ruby necklace.
