Chapter 31 - Being at the Wrong Place at the Wrong Time

Ayla's POV

The moment I pressed the button, the elevator dinged open immediately, not even considering whether it was a good idea to open for people like me or not.

I stepped in, clutching my bag tightly, eyes scanning outside to make sure no one was looking.

Lucky me. The coast outside was clear.

But I completely forgot to check if the coast inside was clear.

The doors slid shut behind me with that soft luxurious ding, and I finally let out a sigh of relief.

"It is better to enter the VIP section than to be roasted by that female demon with long dark hair," I muttered, reaching for the button and pressing my floor with my back turned inside and my eyes fixed on the button.

I glanced at my wrist. 8:13 a.m.

"Perfect. Just two minutes before being late," I whispered, shifting my bag and reversing a little to lean my back against the wall of the elevator.

Except what I leaned on did not feel like cold iron.

It felt soft and fleshy and bony.
